Dong Nai kicks off construction of Rehabilitation Centre for AO victims and disabled children

On the morning of August 10, Vietnam Association of Victims of Agent Orange (VAVA) chapter in Dinh Quan district held a ground-breaking ceremony of the Rehabilitation Centre for AO victims and disabled children (herein after referred to as the Centre). The event was attended by Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Van Rinh, Chairman of VAVA.

The Centre is located in Hiep Loi hamlet, Din Quan town, Dinh Quan district. This project is funded by the VAVA, the VAVA chapter in Dong Nai, Agro Nutrition International Joint Stock Company (ANCO), and municipal chapters with the initial construction cost of nearly VND1.4 billion.

   The establishment of the Centre is aimed to consult about health care, providing free medical check-ups and rehabilitation for disabled children affected by AO in Dinh Quan district. Additionally, the Centre will often organize consulting sessions on health care for those who do not have enough conditions to visit the Centre. It also a place to take care of children affected by Agent Orange/dioxin who are abandoned and living in particularly difficult situation.

Addressing the ceremony, Senior Lieutenant-General Nguyen Van Rinh emphasized that it was difficult to start the construction and implementation of the project, even to remain the Centre’s operation. But it was necessary for the Centre to receive the whole-hearted support from the VAVA chapters at all levels, local authorities, and benefactors so that the Centre could effectively provide health care and rehabilitation for AO victims.
