On March 29 Morning, People Council’s Cultural and Social Affairs Board supervised OSH at Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfares and Department of Public Health.

Data from Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Welfares showed that in 2010, it examined 310 units of which 204 were investigated in the field of OSH. Via examination, it detected violations and imposed administrative sanctions worth VND 153 million. These violations include not providing OSH training to employees, not fully equipping employees with individual protection means. Not organizing regular medical check-up, not measuring working environment … Besides, from the beginning of the year, the department collaborated with functional sectors to check up on 36 units in the field of laour law, 70 units in OSH and fire prevention.

Nguyen Van Hong, Head of the Cultural and Social Affairs Board said, the compliance with labour law in general and OSH in particular in enterprises showed a lot of shortcomings, negatively affecting rights and health of employees. Therefore, he said, in the coming time, is was essential for related-sectors to collaborate together to promote examination so that enterprises could perform that work strictly and better. Because, he explained, safety not only ensured health and lives of employees but also facilitated the sustainable growth of enterprises.
