According to the report released by the Province’s Youth Union, senior unions have managed to establish 15 junior unions with 416 members and 14 associations with 912 members in non-state enterprises and room-for-rent areas, increasing the total number of junior unions by 99 with a membership of 5418 and the total number of associations by 63 with a membership of 4314, gaining as little as 2 percent.
During the year, these junior unions and associations have held practical activities for workers such as law consultation, dissemination against social vices; visits paid to workers leading difficult lives; music shows; sports festivals … which contribute to the improved quality of spiritual lives of workers.

However, making an approach to non-state enterprises, particularly foreign-invested ones to build up junior unions and associations is very difficult because workers have to work overtime and because profits should be earned, according to the evaluation.
Le Thi Ngoc Loan, Vice Secretary of Dong Nai Youth Union said that senior unions would, in 2011, closely co-ordinate with labour unions at district-level to further improve the quantities and qualities of the operation of unions and associations in non-state enterprises and room-for-rent regions. It is expected to establish others 20 junior unions and 15 associations in these places in 2011, she added.
Also, the Province’s Youth Union awarded certificates of merit to 5 organizations and 4 individuals that did a good job of building unions and associations in non-state enterprises and room-for-rent areas.
