Many road users still ignore warnings of an approaching train by crossing railway barriers

In recent times, functional agencies and levels of authorities have taken a lot of measures to make sure that North-South railway transport safety and order in Dong Nai are maintained, but accidents occurred.

At the intersections of roads and railways, road users do not follow the traffic signs when they cross train railway intersections.

Many of them ignore the warnings of an approaching train by crossing railway intersections, which results in an occurrence of accidents.

There have remained many cases in which railway safety corridors are occupied, which block train drivers’ view and in which paths are made through the track.

Under these circumstances, to beef up measures that maintain security and order, and railway transport safety in the province, and to prevent or minimize railway accidents, Chairman of Dong Nai People’s Committee asks that the Standing Committee and Dong Nai Traffic Safety Committee collaborate with media, departments, committees and sectors in the province, and the Traffic Safety Committees of the regions where railway line goes through in:

- Enhancing propaganda work concerning railway transport order and safety law.

- Identifying the “hot areas” at the intersection of roads and railways where accidents tend to occur, doing research and putting forward solutions to preventing, handling and minimizing accident occurrences.

- Dealing with the cases in which road users cross the traffic lights or railway barriers deliberately.

- Inspecting and handling administrative violation cases to make sure that security and order, and railway transport safety are maintained.

It is known that there were five accidents in the first quarter of 2011, which killed seven people and injured 24 others.
