We met her in a conference to review and honor the province’s Humanitarian Blood Donation Campaign in 2007. Talking to her, we could see her expectation of practising charity and devoting to help people.
Her current job is to involve in acupuncture and oriental medicine to save people. Although a lot of people have been afraid and stay aloof from people infected with HIV/AIDS, she often visit them, especially end-stage AIDS people to take care of them and become a solace to them at the end of their lives. She does these things with her compassion without thinking about any rewards.
She took part in blood donation firstly in 2002. Since then, she has participated 12 times with 200ml blood each time. The total amount of blood donated by her was 3,850 ml. “Thinking about patients saved by my blood makes me happy”, she said. She always looks forward to blood donation campaigns to take part in. 3 years ago, in spite of broken leg, she still participated to donate her blood. But Doctors didn’t agree. She felt so sad for missing a chance to save people. When we asked her whether she felt unhealthy after many times of donating her blood, she said, “I even felt healthier because I always feel happy and relaxed.”
As reported, she finished procedures to donate her body after death to Ho Chi Minh City Medicine and Pharmacy University and donate her eyes to Tissue Bank after death.
During the talk, we always realized her desire to save many people. She also recommended people to participate in humanitarian blood donation. “Because certain amount of blood can’t make you weaker, but can save many people”, she said.
