(News Portal – Dong Nai) - On March 15, Dong Nai Province hosted the 4th exchange and cooperation conference among localities in the Southeastern region, 1st quarter of 2024. Central Party Committee member and Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh; Central Committee member and Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc, along with leaders from Ho Chi Minh City, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Binh Duong, Binh Phuoc, and Tay Ninh provinces, presided over the conference.

In his opening remarks, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh affirmed that the Southeastern region, with Ho Chi Minh City as its nucleus, is the largest economic center in the country. There is a strong cohesion between the localities in the region in terms of geographical space, historical tradition, and culture. The relationship between these localities is expanding in various economic and social aspects. The issue of development connectivity among localities in the region is becoming increasingly important.

Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Hong Linh also emphasized that Dong Nai always values cooperation and development connectivity with other localities in the region. The provincial leadership believes that the completion and operation of the Beltways 3 and 4 in Ho Chi Minh City, the Ben Luc - Long Thanh and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressways, the Cat Lai Bridge, along with the Long Thanh International Airport and Bien Hoa Airport's dual-use operation, will create new impetus for the development of Dong Nai and other localities in the region.

According to the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, by the end of 2023, the localities have cooperated and completed 5 out of 10 regional-level cooperation agreements in the Southeastern region. Regarding the cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai Province, the two localities have cooperated to complete 4 out of 11 cooperation contents.

According to Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc, the cooperation among localities in the Southeastern region has achieved many positive results, and the bond between the localities is becoming stronger. In the future, in order to serve the exploitation of Long Thanh Airport effectively, Dong Nai Province also expects the cooperation of other localities in completing the transportation system, including ring roads, expressways, and railways. At the same time, it proposes that the relevant authorities in Ho Chi Minh City lead the study and propose the opening of domestic waterway terminals to develop tourism and river bus routes. It also urges the swift implementation of bridge projects connecting the two localities, the promotion of the "One Route, One Destination" tourism program among localities in the region, the establishment of an electronic trading platform for agricultural products, the construction of a logistics model, and the management of solid waste and environmental monitoring.

In the conference's conclusion, Deputy Chairman of the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Bui Xuan Cuong suggested that localities continue to cooperate in resolving obstacles and accelerating the progress of the Beltway 3 project in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as other expressway projects. They should also devise plans and investment options to extend Urban Railway Line 1 to Binh Duong and Dong Nai, and other railway projects such as Bien Hoa - Vung Tau and Thu Thiem - Long Thanh Airport.
Furthermore, they should collaborate in implementing waterway transportation routes to develop tourism along the Saigon and Dong Nai rivers. Cooperation in solving land filling materials for transportation projects and environmental monitoring is also encouraged.
