Potential to grow

Currently, packaging is one of the important industries in preserving, transporting and distributing goods. Many packaging manufacturers are putting strong efforts to invent new methods, materials and designs that create less waste, are highly recyclable, have lower prices and simpler processes.

According to Mr. Nguyen Ngoc Sang, Chairman of the Vietnam Packaging Association, Vietnam's packaging industry has a fairly high and stable growth rate. Statistics show that there are currently about 14 thousand packaging businesses nationwide. Of which, 4.5 thousand manufacture packaging from paper, and the rest is from plastic. The future of the packaging industry will continue to grow along with the development of Vietnam's economy, so the packaging industry is also an attractive industry for investment capital from many countries.

In Dong Nai, many packaging manufacturing enterprises are also boldly improving quality and meeting the criteria of partners and manufacturers. A representative of Global Packaging Manufacturing Joint - Stock Company (Bien Hoa City) said that since 2017, the company has boldly invested in technology, producing more advanced products of all types and sizes, as well as continuously expanded new factories in Bien Hoa City, Vinh Cuu District and Long An province. In order to expand even more, the business will continue to modernize production management, human resources management and much-needed technology investment. The company's orientation is not to put all eggs in one basket, instead diversifying products to serve domestic and export needs for long-term development.

Similarly, Ngoc Thanh Phuoc Packaging Co., Ltd. (Ho Nai Industrial Park) has a full range of packaging types used to package products in diverse fields such as mechanical products, garment industry, and wood industry, processed foods or covering greenhouses, gardens... In particular, the company can produce degradable plastic bags from wheat flour. According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen, Director of the company, the business is investing in a system of modern equipment and machinery, gathering experienced labor resources, and applying a closed production process.

Greening production to meet international standards

According to experts, Vietnam's packaging industry has great potential to support other manufacturing industries, but it also faces many challenges, including competition, acquisitions from foreign enterprises and international standards. These challenges force businesses to increase competitiveness through effective management, implement digital transformation, and transform the packaging industry into a green industry that meets the requirements of a sustainable economy.

Dai Dong Tien Plastic Joint Stock Company, which has a production factory in the city Ho Chi Minh City and Dong Nai, according to Mr. Trinh Chi Cuong, General Director of the company, besides profits, the business must be responsible to the community in joining hands to protect the environment, support local economic development and protect Vietnamese consumer health. Therefore, the business is to simplifying operations (cutting redundant activities, reducing inventory...) to help labor productivity and profit margins increase significantly. At the same time, find more sources of new products and improve sales, find partners to meet quality plastic products in the middle and high-end segments. The company is also on a digitalization roadmap from 2022 for greener, more sustainable production.

The 16th International Exhibition on Processing and Packaging Technology (ProPak Vietnam 2023) recently held at the Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center had gathered 400 domestic and foreign packaging enterprises. Here, businesses could visit and keep up to date with the latest advanced technology, helping to improve production processes. Thereby optimizing processing and packaging processes, expanding production, and meeting the needs of sustainable development.
