The province's goal is that by 2025, the rate of GAP-certified seafood value will reach 25% of the total aquaculture output in the province. Specifically, the value of seafood products certified by GAP is equivalent to 18-20 thousand tons of seafood.
To date, the entire province has 14 farming areas VietGAP-certified, producing an output of nearly 15.3 thousand tons of seafood. Among them, many VietGAP aquaculture areas have formed a chain of links from production to consumption. Many aquaculture areas have shifted from traditional intensive farming to mechanization and gradually turned to automation, forming high-tech specialized farming areas. For example, the giant freshwater prawn farming area in Tra Co commune (Tan Phu district) with an area of dozens of hectares and orientation to expand to 200 hectares by 2025; Nhon Trach district is the largest brackish water aquaculture area in the province with nearly 1.8 thousand hectares... Thanks to that, the economic efficiency of aquaculture land use is also constantly increasing, reaching 485 million VND/ha/year in 2022.
