On August 3, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee together with leaders of departments, sectors, Dong Nai Young Entrepreneurs Association and a number of universities and colleges in the province had a meeting with the Department of Economy, Trade and Industry of Kansai Region (METI - KANSAI), Japan led by Mr. Hoshokawa Yoichi - Director of International Relations Department, visited and worked in Dong Nai Province.

At the meeting, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee informed the delegation about the socio-economic situation of the province, and the status of attracting foreign investment in Dong Nai Province.
Specifically, Dong Nai is one of the leading industrial development provinces of Vietnam with 32 Industrial Zones. The average annual industrial growth rate is nearly 9%. The province's Industrial Zones and Clusters operate effectively, the investment and business environment is improved, and competition is transparent, creating conditions to promote the development of all economic sectors and types of enterprises.
In the province, there are 44 countries and territories investing with a total of 1,547 valid projects, with a total registered capital of US$32.44 billion; including 263 Japanese projects with a total investment capital of US$5.1 billion, ranked the third in foreign investment in Dong Nai. Particularly in 2021 and the first 6 months of 2022, there are 9 investment projects from Japan in Industrial Zones of Dong Nai with a total registered investment capital of US$68.53 million.
Regarding cooperation with Japan, Dong Nai Province has established cooperative relations with Japanese partners and localities since 2012. After 10 years of implementation, Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee has signed 14 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at provincial level and 5 MOUs at departmental level with Japanese partners. In particular, the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province signed a Framework Agreement on economic cooperation with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Kansai Region, Japan in the fields of supporting industry development, environment and energy saving, training and manpower supply for industry. The Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association in Dong Nai Province was established in 2016, up to now, the Association has operated effectively with more than 200 members.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang, Vice Chairperson of the Provincial People's Committee also said that through researching and exchanging information with the Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City, Kochi province is located on the Japanese island of Shikoku, geographically very similar to Dong Nai Province. Therefore, Dong Nai Province wishes to establish the cooperation with Kochi Province of Japan in the near future. In 2022, Dong Nai Province and Kansai Region are expected to conduct a review of the Coordinator Program. Dong Nai Province always wishes to further strengthen cooperation in economic development and cultural exchange with the Kansai Regional Government (Japan) in particular and Japanese partners and localities in general and hopes Mr. Hoshokawa Yoichi will continue to support the cooperation.
Mr. Hoshokawa Yoichi said that the Kansai Region is located in the West of Japan, which is the region with the second most vibrant developed economy in Japan today. Mr. Hoshokawa Yoichi thanks Dong Nai Province for always paying attention to solving difficulties, promptly supporting to create conditions for Japanese enterprises to feel secure in production and operate effectively in the province. Dong Nai is also one of the first provinces and cities in Vietnam to establish the Kansai Desk in 2013 and establish the Industrial Development Promotion Coordinator Group in May 2019 to support and help Japanese businesses to invest in the province. He hoped that the Kansai Desk and the Coordinating Team would continue to be the bridge to support and create conditions for more and more Japanese enterprises to invest in Dong Nai in the coming time.
