Other regions such as the North, Central, and Southwest regions tend to decrease slightly by 1-2 thousand VND/kg compared to Tet prices. Specifically, the price of pigs in the Northern provinces currently ranges from 48-53 thousand VND/kg; the central region from 47-53 thousand VND/kg; Southwest region from 48-53,000 VND/kg… Accordingly, the price of live pigs in the Southeast region is at the highest level in the country.
After the peak week of the Lunar New Year 2023 with the demand for pork consumption doubled, tripled compared to weekdays. Currently, pork consumption in the market has stabilized again. Specifically, the number of pigs to Hoc Mon wholesale market (Ho Chi Minh City) is currently about 4,500 heads/night. The price of thin pigs has also returned to normal prices with an average selling price of 65-68 thousand VND/kg, down about 10 thousand VND/kg compared to Tet peak.
