Australia wishes to strongly promote investment and trade with Dong Nai

​On February 7, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang and representatives of leaders of departments and branches received the delegation of the Australian Embassy in Vietnam led by Mr. David Gottlieb - Economic Counselor - The Australian Embassy in Vietnam is the Head of the delegation to visit and work in Dong Nai province.

It is known that this mission is to promote investment and trade relations between the two countries, especially in the field of energy infrastructure.
At the meeting, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Thi Hoang informed the delegation regarding the socio-economic situation of the province, especially the issue of attracting foreign investment capital of Dong Nai. Specifically, in Dong Nai province, there are currently 45 countries and territories investing in over 1,560 projects with a total registered capital of USD 33.50 billion; in which Australian investors currently have 18 projects with a total investment capital of USD 87.57 million. The Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee also informed the delegation about the results of the trade promotion trip of Dong Nai province in Australia in September 2022.

At the meeting, Mr. David Gottlieb thanked the leaders of Dong Nai province for supporting and creating favorable conditions for Australian businesses in the province in recent years. He hopes that in the near future, there will be many Australian businesses to invest in Dong Nai as well as many Vietnamese businesses to invest in Australia.

The two sides exchanged and discussed issues of interest to Australia and Dong Nai, strengths and potentials of cooperation of the two sides, especially in the energy sector. Regarding energy, Dong Nai province has planned 5 hydropower plants, including Tri An Hydropower Plant, which is operating effectively with a capacity of 450 MW. Dong Nai also has the potential to develop solar power and with its favorable geographical position, Dong Nai province has the advantage of developing and supplying energy to industrial zones and neighboring provinces and cities.

In 2023, which is the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Australia, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee hopes that the Australian Embassy in Vietnam will be an effective bridge to promote the cooperation relationship not only in investment and trade between Dong Nai province and Australian partners and businesses, but also in the field of culture and social activities. Mr. David Gottlieb also hoped that in 2023, the cooperation relationship between Vietnam - Australia in general, the relationship between Dong Nai province and Australian partners will achieve more marked and prosperous steps.​
