It is undeniable that, over the past time, thanks to the efforts of the authorities and the concern of businesses, many businesses in the province have carried out the practice of occupational safety and health (OSH) with practical and effective operation. Thereby, it has contributed to improving the working environment, ensuring health for employees, and becoming a "highlight".

* Focus on OSH
Many businesses have paid attention to propaganda to change perception and raise awareness of compliance with internal rules and regulations on OSH of employees. In addition, many businesses are also interested in investing in modern equipment and installing specific signs about the danger in factories and plants. Some businesses also build models to ensure OSH during production and business, such as a model to detect hazards at the production site of Vpic Precision Industrial Joint Stock Company; the work of proactively reducing risks by employees of Soltec Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Nhon Trach District), and Safety training system of LG Chemical Co., Ltd. (Long Thanh District), etc.
As one of the enterprises that has been assessed to perform OSH well in Nhon Trach District, Advanced Multitech Vietnam Co., Ltd., Ms. Do Thi Thuy Kieu, Chairman of the grassroot trade union cum safety officer in the company advises that the company always determines that OSH is an important task in parallel with production.
Recently, the company has regularly conducted occupational safety training for employees; organized periodic health examinations for employees; regularly checked the factory and equipment to promptly detect and overcome problems. Particularly, the company has paid attention to the application of technical measures to working positions and items at risk of unsafety and occupational diseases, etc. thereby to ensure a safe working environment. The company has been rewarded for good practice of OSH for many years.
* Many activities are implemented in response to the OSH Action Month
In order to raise awareness and compliance with the law on OSH, effectively implement the OSH Law and its guiding documents; improve working conditions, health care for employees; proactively prevent and mitigate working environment pollution, and prevent labor accidents, occupational diseases and incidents of labor insecurity in the province, every year, the Provincial People's Committee issues a plan to organize activities in response to the OSH Action Month in the province.
According to the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, in response to the OSH Action Month in 2020, since January 2020, the Department has sent plans to departments, branches, the People's Committees of districts, cities, businesses and production facilities in the area. In particular, enterprises and business owners, based on their own situation of production and business, are required to closely coordinate with grassroots trade unions to develop specific action programs on OSH and organize activities in response to the OSH Action Month for all employees according to specific conditions of each enterprise.
In addition, businesses are required to organize internal broadcasting, set up banners and slogans about the month of OSH at businesses' gate and workshop. At the same time, it is recommended that businesses focus on reviewing and establishing rules, signs, and barriers in dangerous areas at risk of occupational accidents, with technical safety measures at each department. Business also has to carry out inspections and assessments of occupational safety risks for each machine, equipment, supplies and substances subject to strict labor safety testing.
According to Mr. Cao Duy Thai, Deputy Head of the Labor Policy Division of the Department of Labor, War Invalids and Social Affairs, activities of the OSH Month this year is not organized extensively due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The department has instructed businesses to launch OSH emulation movements in workshops and organize initiative contests to improve working conditions and safe working methods; at the same time, the department will reward collectives and individuals for performing OSH well at their businesses; visit and encourage victims and their families suffering from labor accidents and occupational diseases; organize periodical health checkup, and organize working environment observation to assess effects of harmful factors on employees, etc.
As for the Trade Union, Chairman of the Provincial Confederation of Labor Nguyen Thi Nhu Y said that the OSH Month of this year will focus on a number of key activities such as providing an online consultancy on the legal policy regime on labor safety and health for employees; organizing visits and encouraging victims and their families of occupational accidents, occupational diseases, sick employees, people in difficult circumstances, and the ones affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

The OSH Action Month 2020 takes place from May 01 to May 31 with the theme of promoting improvement of working conditions and control of occupational safety and health risks at workplace being focused on information, propagandized and disseminated with legal education related to OSH by all levels, sectors, delegations and businesses in the province to make an important contribution to raising the awareness, knowledge and sense of responsibility of employers and employees for OSH.
