*Not an outsider

At the Vietnamese Entrepreneur Day meeting held by the Dong Nai Young Entrepreneur Association, Mr. Tran Ba Duong – Chairman of Board of Directors of Truong Hai Auto Company (THACO) addressed the problem of survival in the age of industry 4.0 with the provincial entrepreneurs. According to him, entrepreneurs shall “live for their careers and never stop changing”. Technology evolves leading to the change in marketing, manufacturing methods. Customer no longer have to buy products at the store, they can purchase them via mobile applications. Therefore, if the entrepreneurs cannot change, it is difficult for them to survive. Mr. Duong also mentioned about Nokia – a global giant corporation who became an outsider for not changing in time when it came to the age of smartphone.

But how to face the industry 4.0 revolution? According to THACO chairman, enterprises shall consider applying automatic manufacturing, let machine replace human’s job to increase productivity and reduce costs. About administration, enterprise owners shall manage the company business the way that conforms to the reality. And to succeed, enterprise owners shall have specific administration methods, which base on the practical business situation. “The success of an enterprise depends on their specific administration; without which, it is hard to be successful” – said Mr. Duong.
Another vital issue is the labor training. Mr. Duong said that in the new scenario, enterprise owners should study and be creative to survive since the company’s success requires knowledge. The knowledge of every member of the company should be exploited and gathered to become the enterprise’s general property and creativity. “An enterprise shall be creative and encourage creativity to create knowledge. THACO is willing to change more”.  Said Mr. Duong.

* Catching up or out of the game

Many entrepreneurs shared that in order to survive and develop, enterprises must apply science-technology and get out of the box in manufacturing. Thus, the output shall be able to meet the domestic and export markets. Bring machine and automation in to increase productivity, quality and reduce human work is an enterprise’s urgent. Replacing all the equipment with moderner ones is a hard task for small and medium enterprises as it requires large amount of capital, well trained personnel.

Mr. Lam Thanh Duc – Director, Chairman of Board of Members of Thanh Duc Breeding, Manufacturing, Services and Trade Limited Company (Xuan Loc District) shared: “To become a market supplier which can provide 150 thousand clean chicken eggs to the market as we do now, we had to make a big revolution in my factory by replacing all of the old machinery system with new and modern one. Nowadays, all of the work in my breeding farm is automated”. He also said that if the enterprises did not want to be an outsider in the 4.0 revolution, they should keep studying more and invest in modern technology and master it.

With the well prepared capital and labor force, Mr Duc put his new production lines into operation effectively, smoothly and productively. The product quality remains the same and 70% of labor force was reduced. The machine can now do everything from medical check, environmental check, temperature check to feeding, egg collecting, sorting, categorizing, quality check, packaging. Therefore, Thanh Duc egg products are not only popular domestically but are also about to be exported to Japan and Korea.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Tuyen – Director of Ngọc Thanh Phuoc Packaging Company (Bien Hoa) shared: “If the enterprises do not apply modern equipment to their manufacturing, they cannot meet the customers’ high demand. To be able to sell variety kinds of package to foreign enterprises, my company had to renew the manufacturing systems and train the labor force for better skill”. According to Ms. Tuyen, in this 4.0 revolution, the slower enterprises will easily be eliminated if they cannot fulfill the quality, quantity and model demand.

According to Dong nai Customs, enterprises’ machinery and equipment import increases 10% each year, most of them are modern equipment. This shows that Dong Nai enterprises really concern about applying new and modern production lines to their manufactory to make the products that meet the markets’ demand in the global playground.
