Dong Nai tourism: explore lakes and forests in Vinh Cuu district

​With the advantages of natural forests and Tri An Lake, Vinh Cuu District is one of the most attractive destinations in Dong Nai province. Here visitors can immerse themselves in nature and enjoy the specialties of the forest and lake.


​The distance from Ho Chi Minh City center to Tri An Lake is about 60km, and 30km from Bien Hoa City to Tri An Lake. Tri An Lake is an artificial lake on the Dong Nai River. The Lake has attracted many people to enjoy and explore its nature. Besides, Tri An Lake also attracts many professional photographers looking for beautiful nature to save their moments.

The lake has an area of about 32 thousand hectares, on the lake there are over 70 islands of all sizes, including the ones that can be seen only when the water level drops in the dry season; particularly, O Island and Dong Truong Island are two interesting tourist attractions to those who love nature.

Visitors to Vinh Cuu can take their first stop at Ho Trang diner near the hydroelectric dam for breakfast. At the diner, visitors can enjoy breakfast and admire the sunrise on the lake. Early morning, the sunshine shimmers on the large lake surface covered with a deep pink color mixed with early morning dew, which creates a mysterious scene attracting visitors to explore. The best special of the diner is white porridge served with small shrimps, which are caught right on the lake and freshly cooked with onion and spices. When having white porridge with fried shrimp, you will feel the full flavor of the shrimps, which makes the rustic dish more special.

After breakfast, visitors can visit Tri An Hydropower, one of the 5 largest hydropower plants in Vietnam. Then, visitors buy a boat tour around the lake at the dock to explore Tri An Lake and land on O island or Dong Truong island to rest and enjoy the specialties of the lake and Dong Nai River, such as: dried halfbeak, hemibagrus, giant river prawn, peacock bass... Dong Truong island has an area of 22 hectares, O island is more than 2 hectares. The two islands are located close to each other and are connected by investors with a suspension bridge. With cool green space, they are very suitable for picnic, camping activities and camp fire overnight. Visitors can take a dip in the pool or play water games.

Visit natural forest

In Vinh Cuu, visitors can combine vacation resorting, adventurous tourism as well as history study. Dong Nai Nature Conservation - Cultural Park is one of the most popular destinations. This special-use forest has the largest natural area in the South with more than 100,000 hectares of rich biodiversity with various species of plants and animals listed in the Red Book of Vietnam and the world. It is also famous for the revolutionary base of War Zone D. In War Zone D there are historical vestiges including Suoi Linh tunnels, bases of the Zone Party Committee of the East which were the first establishment of the Central Bureau of South (1961). Today, War Zone D is a national monument, a pride, a symbol of the tradition of resilient revolution of the Dong Nai people and of the Southeast.

After visiting War zone D, tourists can rent bicycles to explore the natural forest. Recently, many travel companies in the province and neighboring provinces have organized teambuilding tours to attract many domestic and foreign visitors to visit, relax and explore the experience of the forests and lakes.
