Dong Nai celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan

​(News Portal – Dong Nai) - Celebrating the 50th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan (September 21^st, 1973 - September 21^st, 2023), on September 12^th, the Provincial People's Committee organized the Anniversary Ceremony to celebrate 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan.

​Attending the ceremony were Mr. ONO Masuo - Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City; Chairman Thai Bao of the Provincial People's Council; Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc; Chairman of the Provincial Party Inspection Committee Huynh Thanh Binh.

Speaking at the anniversary ceremony, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc emphasized that 50 years ago, Vietnam and Japan officially established diplomatic relations. Since then, through many ups and downs and changes in the region, each country and the world, the friendship and cooperation between the two countries has continuously been strengthened and developed in many areas. Political and diplomatic relations are increasingly strengthened, consolidated, deepened, substantive and effective. Cultural activities and people-to-people exchanges have become an important foundation for the increasingly close and trusting relationship between the two countries.

In particular, economic - trade - investment cooperation is always given special attention and comprehensively promoted. Vietnam and Japan have built many important legal frameworks for bilateral relations, and at the same time, both countries are also members of new generation free trade agreements such as: Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP). Japan is the country that provides the largest official development assistance investment capital (ODA) for Vietnam.

Comrade Thai Bao awarded Certificates of Merit from the Provincial People's Committee to groups and individuals with achievements in promoting the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and between Dong Nai province and Japanese partners in general, specifically for the period 2019-2023 

Up to now, Dong Nai province has established provincial-level cooperative relationships with 8 Japanese partners. Regarding FDI investment, Japanese investors currently have 272 projects with a total investment capital of 5.59 billion USD, ranking 3rd in terms of number of projects and total investment capital of foreign investors in the province. In particular, Dong Nai province has established a Kansai Desk with 5 concurrent members, coordinating with agencies and units to receive and answer questions from Japanese investors about licensing, labor, investment procedures, and operation registration to find out information and investment opportunities in Dong Nai...

Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Vo Tan Duc awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial People's Committee to groups that have made achievements in promoting the cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan. 

Regarding people-to-people diplomacy activities between Dong Nai province and the Japanese people, they are increasingly being strengthened and promoted. Vietnam - Japan Friendship Association of Dong Nai province was established in August 2016. Up to now, the Association has 4 branches and nearly 500 members with many exciting activities are often organized.

​Speaking at the celebration, Consul General of Japan in Ho Chi Minh City ONO Masuo thanked the leaders, organizations and individuals in Dong Nai province for their attention and support to Japanese businesses operating in the province. Mr. ONO Masuo said that there were currently more than 200 Japanese enterprises operating in Dong Nai, mainly in the manufacturing sector. Japanese enterprises were operating effectively, contributing to local socio-economic development. The Japanese Business Association in Ho Chi Minh City (JCCH) has established the Dong Nai Group with more than 100 members. Among local governments in Japan, Hyogo, Saitama and Ehime prefectures have a very strong cooperative relationship with Dong Nai province. Consul General ONO Masuo hoped that in the future, when Long Thanh International Airport came into operation, the two sides could increase exchanges in a variety of different areas such as culture, tourism, education...

At the celebration, the Provincial People's Committee awarded certificates of merit to 22 collectives and 12 individuals for their achievements in promoting cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general and between Dong Nai province and Japanese partners in particular between 2019 and 2023. ​​
