In 2022, many important traffic projects in the province will be completed and put into operation. This is expected to create a new impetus for Dong Nai to accelerate its development.
The first kilometers of the
Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway Project, the section passing through Xuan Loc
District area has been covered with asphalt.
Many construction projects completed
Construction investment project of Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway is one of two national key projects implemented in the province. Started since September 2020, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway project has a total length of 99km, of which the section through the province has a length of 51.3km.
After more than a year of construction, despite being affected by the Covid-19 epidemic as well as the shortage of materials for construction, the project is basically still ensuring the set schedule. A modern expressway, "opening" the eastern gateway of the province is gradually being "formed".
Nguyen Hoang Hai, Director of the Executive Board of package No. 3, which has the largest construction volume of the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway Project, said that overcoming difficulties caused by the epidemic as well as lack of resources construction materials, the contractor has managed and implemented many solutions to ensure the progress. Up to now, the first 3km of the package has been covered with the first layer of asphalt.
Similarly, in package No. 4, the contractors also mobilized total human resources as well as machinery for the construction process. Currently, when the Southeast region begins to enter the dry season, the weather is favorable for road construction, so the contractors have also increased their resources to speed up the progress. The joint venture of contractors will also deploy the first layer of asphalt concrete for this package.
According to the Thang Long Project Management Board, the unit assigned to be the project investor, currently, the entire Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway is going behind the schedule. However, according to the calculations and determination of the contractors, it is expected to basically complete the project by the end of 2022. To make up for the delayed progress of the project, some contractors have conducted the construction even during the Lunar New Year 2022.
In addition to the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway Project, in 2022 there will also be 2 important transport projects of the province "to arrive its destination" including the construction project of Vam Cai Sut Bridge and the project of Country Lane No. 2 (section 1, stage 1).
Construction project of Vam Cai Su Bridge and Country Lane No. 2 are two key projects of the province deployed in Bien Hoa City. By the end of 2020, both of these projects were simultaneously started construction. Recently, due to difficulties in site clearance as well as the impact of the Covid-19 epidemic, both of these two projects were behind the schedule. To make up for the progress, right after the social distancing measures to prevent the Covid-19 epidemic were lifted, the contractors also focused on mobilizing resources and working overtime on construction sites.
Mr. Ngo The An, Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, said that according to the set plan, in 2022, both projects will be completed and put into operation.
Create momentum for development
For a long time, the road traffic in the North - South direction and vice versa, the section through the province has mainly relied on the National Highway No. 1. With the increasing traffic volume, the National Highway No. 1 has become overloaded for many years. This is also one of the bottlenecks for the province's economic and social development.
Therefore, the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway construction project once completed will create a motive for development for the provinces and areas the project passes through, including Dong Nai Province. This project also plays the role of connecting and promoting the efficiency of expressway sections that have been and are being invested such as the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway; Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway; Dau Giay - Lien Khuong and Bien Hoa - Vung Tau Expressways. Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway will also help shorten the journey from Ho Chi Minh City to economic and tourist centers, opening up investment opportunities in the Southern Central region. At the same time, reducing traffic congestions and the frequent traffic accidents in the region, solving the needs of passenger and cargo in transporting between the central hub area of the Southern Key Economic Zone with the Southeast and Southern Central regions as well as from the North to the South of Vietnam.
Similar to National Highway No. 1, currently National Highway 1K, Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway connects Dong Nai Province with Ho Chi Minh City and National Highway No. 51 connects the development "triangle" of Ho Chi Minh City - Dong Nai - Ba Ria - Vung Tau is facing a serious overloaded situation, especially the National Highway No. 51. In this situation, the completion of the construction of Vam Cai Su Bridge and Country Lane No. 2 project is expected to step by step "remove" the traffic connection bottleneck for Dong Nai in particular and the Southeast region in general.
According to the plan, in addition to the project of Vam Cai Sut Bridge and Country Lane No. 2 (section 1, phase 1) being built, section 2 of the Country Lane No. 2 will also be invested and built in the near future. When all these projects are completed, the Country Lane No. 2 will be formed synchronously.
Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung said that, when completed, the Country Lane No. 2 will be the route connecting the center of Bien Hoa City with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway. Therefore, vehicles can travel along this route to go from Dong Nai Province to Ho Chi Minh City, shortening the distance and travel time. At the same time, this new connection route will also contribute to reducing the traffic load on the National Highway No. 51.
