Developing the livestock industry in the direction of industrialization and modernization while promoting organic and traditional livestock production towards the production of safe and high-quality goods is also a livestock development strategy for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2045 of our country.

Technology application in production

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the total pig herd in the province is about 2.3 million heads, the poultry flock is over 27 million heads. The province has built 7 district-level disease-free zones and 11 commune-level disease-free facilities for Newcastle avian influenza. The province has 654 farms certified to be disease-free.

Entering the integration, the livestock industry must compete with the advantage of large-scale production and high technology application. Dong Nai has the strength to attract many large corporations and enterprises to invest in the livestock industry by link chains from production of animal feed and breeds to building a consumption network. Dong Nai is also one of the leading provinces in implementing traceability and building safe livestock chains…

Developing livestock in the direction of modernity, large-scale industry is being focused on developing by many localities of the province. Xuan Loc is a purely agricultural district, deep-lying and remote areas also determined to develop high-tech application of livestock and large-scale commodities. Nguyen Van Linh, Vice Chairman of Xuan Loc District People's Committee, said that the locality has attracted many corporations and businesses to invest in livestock with industrial scale, applying high technology, following the link chain from the production stage to consumption for sustainable output.

Mr. Le Van Quyet, Director of Long Thanh Phat High-tech Agricultural Cooperative (Long Thanh district), Vice Chairman of the Southeast Poultry Breeding Association shared that livestock farms participating in cooperatives are pioneers in applying high technology in production such as Building a high-tech breeding system with stilt houses in order to save ground area and increase the number of livestock on the same land area. The farm is designed to automatically feed and drink water and both contribute to controlling and minimizing the risk of disease spread, reducing the cost of animal feed… “The cooperative not only gathers good breeders, but also has many members who are enterprises that provide seed, produce bran... so that the livestock link chain can meet export standards to the difficult Japanese market. "- said Mr. Quyet.

Opportunities for development of household farming

In the period of integration with the orientation of the livestock industry, livestock will develop in the direction of large-scale industrial husbandry, but household husbandry still plays an important role, in addition to the meaning of people's livelihood, it is also a specialty breeding to serve social needs. However, in order to survive, farming households must also change accordingly, meet the market, raise livestock safely, enter the link chain...

Over the past time, Dong Nai has had many support programs for household farming such as: support artificial insemination for livestock breeds; support to buy livestock and poultry breeds; in waste treatment; implementing bio-buffer… with the goal of gradually changing the production direction from focusing on productivity and output to focusing on quality and value, and food safety.

In which, livestock production without environmental pollution, ensuring food safety and hygiene is the orientation to attract investment of the province with many programs being implemented such as: replicating the farm model, livestock cooperative group obtained VietGAHP certification; organic farming; implementing projects to trace the origin of livestock products from farm to table...

Que Lam Group Joint Stock Company (HCM city) is deploying the model of organic husbandry according to the production chain associated with processing and consumption. This breeding model has many outstanding advantages such as: the cage uses biological padding, the top has a cooling mist system, so it does not cause odors, no waste, good disease control; pigs listen to relaxing music…

Mr. Ho Dang Khoa, Deputy General Director of Que Lam Group JSC, said that the organic pig farming model was implemented in accordance with household farming according to the link chain between businesses and farmers. Participating farmers were provided with gilts, animal feed, training on organic pig farming knowledge, sent technical staff to the production site to guide and support farmers on the process, techniques... Especially, when participating in this production process, farmers will master the technology and production process when taking advantage of local food sources or growing their own to reduce input costs. Waste in livestock is processed into fertilizer used for cultivation, both without polluting the environment and increasing added value in production.

According to Mr. Nguyen Truong Giang, Director of the Provincial Sub-Department of Livestock - Veterinary Medicine, the province pays great attention to implementing projects on traceability of livestock products from farm to table, especially in the direction of high technology application. The good implementation of the traceability of livestock products will make livestock management more convenient, and at the same time increase the value of Dong Nai's pork and chicken and aim for export.
