​Socio-economic situation during the first three months of 2014 ​


​In the first quarter of 2014, Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) in the province (at constant market price in 1994) was 11,478.4 billion VND, achieving 20.1% of its plan, indicating an increase by 10.2 % year-on-year. Construction-Industry; Service; Agriculture, Forestry and Fishing sectors rose by 10.6%, 11%, 3.3% respectively on a year-over-year basis. 

1. Economic sector

- Index of Industrial Production (IIP) grew by 7.08% year-on-year. 


- The production value of agriculture, forestry and fishery amounted to 6,484.3 billion VND (at constant 2010 price), increasing by 3.5% year on year. 


- Total state budget revenues reached 22% as planned; increased by 14% year on year.


- Export turnover attained 21% of the plan, showing a growth rate of 4.2 % over the same period. Import turnover achieved 21.5 % of the plan, showing a growth rate of 2.7 % over the same period. 


- Total retail of goods reached 23.4% according to the plan, a 13% year-on-year increase.


-  Consumer Price Index in March 2014 decreased by 0.48% compared to February 2014 and increased by 0.71% and 3.73% compared to December 2013 and March 2013, respectively. Gold price in March 2014 rose by 4.1% and 3.73% compared to respective February 2014 and December 2013, but fell by 187.74 on a year-over-year basis. US dollar index in March 2014 increased by 0.09 % in comparison with February 2014 and decreased by 0.14 % corresponding to December 2013, and grew by 1.05 % year-on-year. 


- Transport of goods: the volume of goods increased by 6.4% and 6.8% year on year in terms of transport and circulation respectively. 


- Transport of passengers: the volume of passengers rose by 6.6% and by 6.9% year on year with regard to transport and circulation respectively. 


- Mobilizing capital of banks was planned to achieve 95,805 billion VND by March 31, 2014, showing an increase of 4.7% compared to December 31, 2013. Total outstanding debt reached 82,972 billion VND, up 2.9% compared to December 31, 2013.

-  Total capital for provincial investment and development attained 26% of the plan, indicating a year-on-year growth of 19%. 


-  Total registered capital for new and existing projects was 439.8 million USD by March 14, 2014, increased 34% on a year-on-year basis and achieved 55% of the yearly plan. 


- Domestic investment attraction: Total investment capital was attracted 1,786 billion VND domestically by March 14, 2014 (four projects with newly-registered capital of 1,786 billion VND), achieving 24% according to the plan, and equaling with 96% over the same period. 


- Total registered capital for enterprises achieved 3,662 billion VND (newly registered and added capital are included) in the province by March 14, 2014, reaching 56.3 % of the yearly plan, increasing by 34.5% year on year. There are 521 brand-new enterprises with total registered capital of 1,724 billion VND and 85 existing enterprises with additional registered capital of 1,938 billion VND.

2. Socio-culture sector:

- In the first quarter, many sports and cultural activities are celebrated to mark the important holidays such as: 84th Foundation Anniversary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (from February 03, 1930 to February 03, 2014); International Women's Day (March 08); Foundation Anniversary of Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union (March 26) and so on. 

- Excellent student contests were carried out: contest of solving maths with calculators, excellent students of complementary schools, creative students of science and technology at high school, national excellent students of grade 12, and preparation of group of national excellent students. 

- Disease prevention steering committee warned people to avoid such common diseases in case of seasonal change as: A H1N1 and H5N1 flu, hand, foot and mouth disease. The committee steered to enhance control, to diagnose cases of flu H7N9 early and to ensure food safety and hygiene in the province. They also requested medical service units to strictly obey the hospital regulations, especially duty hours and emergency services; to ensure the emergency and treatment services timely and effectively; to remain active in reserving blood, medicines, perfusion, equipments and materials for first aid or treatment of patients in Lunar New Year’s days. 


- In the first quarter of 2014, 21,364 workforces was offered jobs, achieving 24% as planned and increasing 2% year on year. And 9,801 people were recruited and vocationally trained, achieving 15.6% of yearly plan and increasing 0.3% year on year. 


With respect to poverty reduction, Long Khanh districts and towns were instructed to implement the project of developing poverty reduction models; preferential loans valued at 7 billion VND were provided for 500 poor households. 


- Ministry of Home Affairs was reported about training results of cadres and civil servants at commune level in Dong Nai province pursuant to Decision no 1956/QĐ-TTg dated November 27, 2009 by Prime Minister; and was informed about training scheme for commune-level cadres and public servants in 2014.
