Dong Nai Industrial Zone Authority’s survey of industrial park workers’ housing needs indicates that sixteen employers in industrial parks have registered for land pieces that will be used to build housing for their workers.

The total of registered land is 47.16 hectares with an estimated investment capital of more than US$7.4 million and VND121 billion (or US$5.84 million).

This area is expected to meet 26,681 workers’ accommodation needs.

The construction location is within Bien Hoa city, and Long Thanh, Nhon Trach, Trang Bom, Vinh Cuu and Dinh Quan districts.

Now, the percentage of industrial park workers that can gain an access to housing is low compared with their needs.

The total number of industrial park workers until late 2010 is estimated at approximately 420,000, including 374,391 industrial park workers among of whom are 350,589 Vietnamese ones.

An inspection visit to workers’ boarding houses

The housing that labor employers invest in range from 60,000 to 65.000 square meters and can accommodate 9,800 to 10,000 people, accounting for five percent of workers’ needs.

The housing area whose investors and managers are infrastructure construction and housing companies and whose tenants are workers ranges from 35,000 to 40,000 square meters and can accommodate 5000 to 6000 people, accounting for 3 percent of workers’ needs.

Dong Nai has implemented a pilot housing project on an area of ​​76,264 square meters, which provides 908 apartments in Bien Hoa City and in Nhon Trach district and accommodate more than 2,000 people.

Presently, all required procedures to seek for new investors to start construction work are being completed.
