Expand more new 270 hectares of cocoa trees

Thong Nhat district’s People’s Committee has set up the plan to expand the growing of cocoa tree for the period 2011 – 2015. As proposed, by 2015, total areas for cocoa cultivation in the district will be around 350 ha, comprising 270 newly-cultivated hectares. 150 ha will be harvested with an average yield of 1.5 tons of dried cocoa/ha and the productivity of 225 tons/year.

Most of cocoa trees are now grown at Hung Loc commune

 

It is noted that Thong Nhat district is now recording roughly 65 hectares of cocoa trees mainly cultivated at Hung Loc commune accounting for 50 ha.
