*Continuously enhance productivity and quality.
In the last year, the whole industry cultivated 3 crops ( winter-spring, summer-fall, crop) with 199,756 hectare, reaching 100.81% of target. In general ,the yearly cultivation area in 3 crops increased in comparison with the same period last year. Average rice yield of 3 crops was at 42.8 quintals/ hectare, and that of corn was at 52.43 quintals/ hectare. The total land area of perennials by the end of last year was 121.567 hectares, most of which are concentrated by rubber trees, cashew trees, pepper trees, coffee trees. Expanded fruit tree area was 49,201 hectares, with 5,174 of mandarin along with durian up 97 hectares, custard-apple up 101 hectares. In the Winter-Spring crop of 2006-2007, Locals changed 828 hectares of rice into ones of corn and crop ( with 179 hectares in Tan Phu, 237 hectares in Xuan Loc, 153 hectares in Vinh Cuu, 73 hectares in Trang Bom, 70 hectares in Thong Nhat, 39 hectares in Long Khanh, 16 hectares in Cam My, 14 hectares in Dinh Quan). The area of corn increased by 1,1062 hectares, most of which are in districts such as Tan Phu, Vinh Cuu, Xuan Loc, Thong Nhat, Long Khanh, Cam My, Long Thanh.
Apart from expanding production scale, applying technology method to raise productivity and quality was also considered to be one of the most important. Seeds of short-day plants alone in the whole province were taken from single F1 corns, certified rice in mass production. Farmers cultivated most of plants produced and supplied by the company such as green bean HL2, HL 89- E3, soy bean DT 90, DT 96, cucumber H1, red pepper, egg plant, etc. The seeds of long-day industrial and fruit plants was multiplied quickly from seeds approved in contests by using cloning method such as durian SDN 01L, S13DL, sweet orange pomelo BC 12, rambutan CDN 9J, CDN 13Jm along with plant seeds already in the list of ones allowed for production and business consisting of durian DoNa, Hoa Loc sweet mango, cashew nut PN1, LG1, CH1, two lines of Coffee canephora, acacia, transplanted cocoa.
* Applying science and technology advance into production.
With the aim of helping farmers to work effectively, the agriculture industry continuously warn farmers to use cultivation method to get high yield and good quality in the direction of food safety and good agriculture practice (GAP) :
As for rice : strongly deploying The “Three Reductions, Three Gains” program on it in order to save seeds, fertilizer, plant protection chemicals as well as raise the productivity along with business effect.
As for corn: using the corn seeds suitable for every crop as well as planting densely in the Winter-Spring crops, cramming the tree lines, inserting to bean trees, investing to organic fertilizer, etc. to raise yield.
As for vegetable and flower: the main solution was growing plants inside net-house to minimize disease, raise yield, product quality, *encouraging farmers to equip with watering systems to reduce labor cost, and lower the net-house temperature, and to cover with nylon canvas to minimize fertilizer loss, and water, to prevent disease, to use organic fertilizer of the right process for vegetable along with controlling general diseases on plants, ensuring no use of plant protection chemicals that are out of the legal list, warning of using biological plant protection, etc.
As for long-day industrial and fruit trees:
*Warning the farmers: to use hi-tech in production, to build production mode in the direction of safety, to treat the blooming with dispersed crops to avoid the concentrated harvest or not to coincide with the harvest height of the same kinds of crops in different intensive regions to raise selling price and purchase easily, to use economically watering system combined with fertilizing via pipes following hi-tech process for labor and fuel saving, to apply the technique of digging deep ditch for discharging water in gardens, collective disease managing process, no-disease hamlet, to put down fertilizer from chicken, to use Trichoderma antagonistic fungus.. to minimize the destruction of diseases.
* Applying lower temperature method in pigsties, coops, especially in enclosures with cooling system for diseases prevention, food expenditure reduction, high growth rate of livestock, giving high effect.
* Choosing the livestock breed carefully, for example, choosing purebred pig breed , garden chicken breed with color feather such as Luong Phong, Tam hoang, bull hybridized between yellow bulls and hybridized one of Red Sind, Brahman, Charolais.., successfully grow Boer goat breed from Australia.
*As for Aquatic: successfully studying artificial breeding process to produce
light-emitting fish, growing intensive black tiger shrimp combine with air scour to raise productivity to 5 tons per hectare per crop.
* Efforts in 2008.
With those achievements in 2007, Agriculture industry have enough foundation to set target of agriculture-forestry-aquatic output in 2008: striving to gain agriculture output value of VND6,453,998 billion, up 5.23% against 2007, with VND4,397.64 billion of the planting value, VND 1,770.6 billion of livestock growing value, VND 285.7 billion of agriculture service, VND 74.444 billion of forestry output value, up 9.19 %, opening 10 more cooperatives of trade, service and agriculture in 2007, investing VND139.8 billion to basically construct irrigation works.
Mr. Huynh Thanh Vinh, The director of the provincial agricultural encouragement center says, “ thanks to technological advancement application into production, presently, yield and quality of major plant seeds in the province such as pepper, cashew nuts, coffee, durian, pomelo… haven’t been inferior to those of countries in the world. However, most of them haven’t been exported, but traded inside the country. That’s because agricultural products of Dong nai Province haven’t been approved with GAP. To gain this standard, It requires the producers to strictly confront to technological process in production.
Therefore, beside informing and instructing people to change gardens, low quality as well as productivity ones to cultivate major plants with high economical value, it ia necessary to set up intensive regions of one plant kind in order to apply science and technology advancement, produce products steadily with big quantity for easy trade, concentrate to instruct people to produce confronting to GAP standard.
