VND2.6 Billion Raised for Agent Orange Victims in 2009

On the morning of March 10, at the meeting hall of the Quyet Thang Ward People’s Committee (Bien Hoa city), the Provincial Association of AO/Dioxin Victims held the conference to end its performance in 2008 and propose directions and tasks in 2010. Vo Van Mot, chairman of the People’s Committee attended the conference.

Mr. Mot rewards certificates of merit to excellent groups and individuals in emulation campaign for Agent Orange Victims

    According to report by the association, it in cooperation with its districts’ branches encouraged enterprises, individuals, etc. to support the victims in the province last year. Eventually, from Jan. 1, 2009 to late 2009, more than VND2.6 billion had raised for supporting the victims. Besides, their living conditions were paid much attention by the association; construction and repair of more than 20 houses of compassion worth VND470 million were done; it also paid a visit and gave gifts to the victims on occasion of Tet and other annual holidays.

Addressing the conference, Mr. Vo Van Mot praised the association’s performance and asked it to foster its cooperation with its branches, enterprises and organizations and individuals inside and outside the province to raise more fund for the victims.

    At the conference, six groups and nine individuals with excellent achievements in the emulation campaign for Agent Orange victims were awarded certificates of merit by the Provincial People’s Committee. By the way, the association also gave the certificates to other six groups and even individuals with remarkable attainments in 2009.
