World Water Day 2011: “Water for urban development”

The Department of Natural Resources and Environment has just sent to all other Departments, sectors, branches and localities the documents on the celebration of World Water Day 2011.

 

With a fast growth in the industrial economy, the World Water Day this year conveys many messages and significant meanings.

 

With the topic of “Water for urban development”, the World Water Day this year will focus on popularizing the role and importance of water resources in human life, which helps to raise people’s awareness of the challenges water resources have to face in the sustainable urban development in the process of the industrialization, climate change, and natural disaster prevention. In addition to specific activities such as meeting, seminar, the utilization of banners, slogans, panels and posters,... local areas are initiating necessary activities such as water flow clearance, fighting movement of river and lake invasion, forest planting for water protection.

The launching of the celebration and activities is known to take place between March 15 and March 31.
