Since October, 2009, 3 bus routes that are free for picking and dropping off workers in two Industrial Zones of Amata and Bien Hoa 2 and on the other side of Hoa An Bridge has been officially put into operation after 3-month trial.
According to the report made by Dong Nai province Public Passenger Transport Management and Operation Centre, after nearly coming into operation, these 3 bus routes picked and dropped off 988,275 turns of passengers with 57,079 trips. Of which there were 15,918 trips with 124,008 turns of workers who work at over 30 enterprises of Bien Hoa Industrial Zone 2. The bus route picking up and dropping off workers in Amata Industrial Zone conducted 13,749 trips with 64,087 turns of workers of 25 companies, accounting for 114% of the set plan. In addition, the bus route picking up and dropping off the workers of Pouchen Vietnam Limited Company had 27,412 trips with more than 8,000 turns of passengers.
According to the Department of Transport, Dong Nai province now has 31 transport enterprises that participate in picking up and dropping off workers at industrial zones, industrial clusters, and other companies, let alone some companies have their own transport cars for workers and employees. The statistic has shown that the province now has over 1,000 special-use transport means for carrying workers to and from workplaces with 37,970 seats. Each day, there are more than 65,500 turns of passengers being transported to and from workplace. The province’s public transport network has so far met the travel need of workers.
With nearly 360,000 workers at industrial zones, industrial clusters and companies of Dong Nai province, putting public transport means into use is an urgent action to stabilize the traffic flow and to help workers reduce their travel expenses. As such, during the past time, the bus routes attracted great support from laborers. Then more and more workers tend to participate in this useful public transport.
Nguyen Thi Hai, a worker from Muto Vietnam Company in Bien Hoa Industrial Zone II, said that she has saved a lot of time for going to work since she participated in free bus routes (December, 2009). In fact, it took more than 30 minutes for her to go to workplace from her room-for-rent by foot. Therefore, free bus routes till now have become more convenient and economical for her.
Mr Le Van Duc from the provincial Public Passenger Transport Management and Operation Centre stated that more and more people have participated in using public transport means because they have well awareness of their effectiveness and convenience. And that this was considered as an effective method to take care of workers’ life, and meeting their needs.
