Busily preparing products for Tet holiday

The Lunar New Year (Tet holiday) 2011 will come in about 2 months. Almost food and confectionery companies in Dong Nai province have so far been ready to serve customers on Tet holiday.


Nghe Chieu Anh, Bibica Confectionery JS Company's PR Executive said that the company would supply about 6,000 tons of confectionery of all kinds on the occasion of Tet holiday 2010, increasing its production capacity by 30%. Among 150 confectionery categories, nearly new 40 kinds have been produced only for the Tet holiday 2010, especially Goodies high-class biscuits. Bibica has a wide range of products with a wide distribution system including 50 points of sale. This year Bibica has early set its products up for sales to the market.

It is said that it would be difficult for exported confectionery market to compete with domestic confectionery market on Tet holiday 2011. Therefore, as of November 2010, all Bibica's firms have made the greatest efforts to ensure the supply of products for Tet 2011. Ms Chieu Anh also added that the prices of all input materials have been increasing rapidly (over 20%), especially for sugar and fat (up 40%), but Bibica's confectionery prices for Tet 2011 have increased only by 8-10% compared to the same period of the previous year. The company has kept its product prices stable was simply that it reserved the input materials.

In the food and foodstuff processing sector, Dong Nai Food Processing Factory (D&F) has already prepared to stock up essential input materials for the upcoming Tet holiday. Nguyen Tuan Phuong, D&F's General Director, said that D&F would supply about 80 tons of processed meat products to the market on Tet holiday 2011. It has also stocked up 430 tons of fresh meat and 63,000 chickens. He added that in case of sudden hike in pig and chicken prices, the selling prices of D&F would remain the same. “We will try out best to keep market prices stable as requested by Dong Nai Department of Industry and Trade. In addition to our current distribution system such as Big C Dong Nai, Metro Bien Hoa, Co.opmart Bien Hoa, Dong Nai Supermarket, Vinatex Bien Hoa Supermarket, and 3 food store in Bien Hoa City, we plan to open 5 kiosks and 4 mobile sales vehicles at markets in Bien Hoa City, Long Thanh district, Long Khanh Town and Trang Bom district on Tet holiday 2011, Mr Phuong said.

Not only Bibica or D&F, but also almost enterprises and factories have been ready for the supply of products on the coming Tet holiday including Vinacafe Bien Hoa and Tran Gia square sticky rice cake (Banh chung), etc. Tran Thanh Toan, Owner of Tran Gia Banh Chung, stated that the establishment has so far finished the production of exported sticky rice cakes and now is preparing to make sticky rice cake in service of domestic market. As planned, Tran Gia Banh chung will supply 40 tons of sticky rice cakes to the supermarket systems of Big C, Co.op Mart and Metro for Tet holiday 2011.
