74 businesses have made plans to reduce their labor force

According to Department of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs, there have been 74 businesses in industrial parks within the province which have planned to cut down the labor force for the reasons: no orders, production cutdown, temporary production halt, contract expiry…

    It is estimated that the number of laid-off workers in the coming time might rise by 12,000 – nearly twice as large as that late 2008. The businesses having plans to reduce much labor force are mainly those operating in mechanical, electronic and wood processing sectors. Among them, Lac Cuong shoe-making company is the one which has drawn up plans to reduce most workers – 1,888 – due to winning no orders. SANYO DI company terminated 1000 workers’ employment contracts but did not resign with them and its 800 workers are estimated to be laid off from now to June 2009. Moto company terminated 400 workers’ employment contracts and it is expected that its labor force will continue to be cut down by 493 workers. Timber company laid 450 workers off…

    Besides some businesses which have faced difficulties and had to cut down their labor force, others are operating normally and having a demand for employing 25,000 workers. The typical ones are the associate businesses of NIKE. Hwa Seung company is advertising for 2,000 workers. Pousung company is in an urgent need of 1,000 workers. The businesses belonging to Phong Thai group have had a demand for 1,500 new workers to replace those who have stopped work and serve the extension of the Standard factory (in Xuan Loc district)… Under the circumstances, provincial concerned agencies have made a lot of efforts to assist laid-off workers in finding new jobs. Until now, approximately 9,300 out of 10,013 laid-off workers have got new jobs.
