(E. Portal of Dong Nai) From the beginning of May, the price of live pork continuously increased, each time increase by 1-2 thousand VND/kg. Accordingly, the price of live pork increase by 3-5 thousand VND/kg compared to the previous month.

Specifically, the price of live pork in the North is currently ranging from 52-54 thousand VND/kg, in the Central region and Central Highlands from 53-56 thousand VND/kg; in the South from 52-57 thousand VND/kg. In particular, the price of live pork in Dong Nai has the highest level in the country with the level of 55-57 thousand VND/kg.
This price increase is with both the source of pigs from large livestock companies to small farms and households. The reason of increase in live pork prices is that consumer demand recovering while the supply is lower than before. It is forecasted that live pork price will continue to maintain its upward momentum in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of 2023 when the market demands gradually stabilize while the pig supply may continue to decrease as farmers limit investment due to difficulties from during beginning of the year until now.
