Faced with that reality, the Industry and Trade sector nationwide and localities need to actively participate to remove difficulties and promote growth.
Export slows down
In the first 4 months of the year, Dong Nai's export turnover reached over 6.9 billion USD while import turnover reached nearly 5.4 billion USD, decreased 19.3% and 14.1% respectively compared to the same period. In general, through the surveys of enterprises in the area, a number of industries such as garment, leather and footwear, wood processing, electronics... have had the strongest fluctuations. Some large enterprises had having to reduce working hours and rearrange production to sustain in production and business.
According to experts, the causes of the decline in our country's exports is the slow recovery of the world economy and the collapse of some banks in the world which has certain impacts on the trend of tightening spending on purchasing normal and luxury products in some major consumer markets of textiles, footwear, furniture, and electronic components such as the US and EU have reduced import demand.
In the context of general difficulties, there are still more positive things emerging. Mr. Ngo Quang Trung, Director of the local Department of Industry and Trade said that a number of policies to stimulate public investment and support enterprises of the State had started to take effect in restoring production activities. The number of new export orders had increased for the first time in 3 months, although the industrial production index had decreased, the trend increased gradually over the months; the import of raw materials and auxiliary materials showed signs of increasing... were the factors that predicted the situation of production, import and export in the coming time would be more positive.
Finding solutions to promote production and business to support export
In order to remove difficulties in the development of industry and trade, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has just held an online conference of the local industry and trade sector on solutions to promote the development of production, business and import-export in 2023. Here, the Ministry of Industry and Trade together with Central and local ministries and relevant units and enterprises have updated and provided information on the situation of production, business and import, export. At the same time, exchanged, discussed, clarified the causes of the achieved results and promptly grasped and identified difficulties and obstacles in state management, production and business and import, export. Since then, many specific solutions have been proposed to solve in a timely manner.
According to Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hong Dien, it was necessary to continue promoting the development of import and export through cross-border e-commerce activities; expanding and diversifying export markets; targeting new and potential markets such as India, Africa, Middle East and Latin America, Eastern Europe. The Ministry also wanted the localities to focus on reviewing and removing the real difficulties and obstacles for each enterprise and each project, especially large projects in the locality and projects playing roles of creating "hits" encouragement for growth, creating a great source of revenue for the budget, creating jobs for local workers...
For Dong Nai, according to Director of the Department of Industry and Trade Truong Thi My Dung, in addition to the tasks assigned by the Provincial People's Committee in regulating production, restructuring the industry, attracting investment as well as assisting in finding new markets, Dong Nai also proposed some important issues. Specifically, ministries and branches continued to take measures to support businesses to borrow low-interest loans, added support solutions, tax and fee exemption and reduction in difficult situations... Besides, minimizing administrative procedures, especially in the field of customs, tax, social insurance, import and export so that enterprises could access raw materials for production as well as export goods more conveniently.
