The revival of streams and rivers has contributed to a better living environment and landscape for the city.
The "dead" streams’ revives
From the polluted black, thick mud and full of garbage, smelling in sunny season, flooding in rain season streams, currently, many streams in Bien Hoa City become green, clean spaces for people.
San Mau stream is a typical example. From the day the work of dredging and embankment of San Blood stream was completed, Mr. Nguyen Van Son's family (KP.2, P. Thong Nhat) renovated the house, opened the back door to catch the wind and to be convenient for walking. Mr. Son also grows flowers and fruit trees, creating landscapes, shading and preventing weeds from growing on redundant land along streams.
Mr. Son said, about 5 years ago, whenever heavy rain was spring water poured into the house carrying many rubbish carcasses; And in the dry season, it smelt fishy and foul. From the day there was a stream corridor, he broke the water-block wall, opened the back door to make the main path. Despite the drought peak, the stream still smells bad, but with Mr. Son the smell is very little and does not affect the lives of people along the stream.
For Mrs. Vu Thi Lien (Quarter 5, Trang Dai Ward), the San Mau stream was improved, helping her family and thousands of households have a better life; No more worries about diseases when water and air are polluted.
Ms. Lien said, before whenever she wanted to go through Quarter 1, she must take a very detour. Since 2017, thanks to the extra road running along the stream, there is a concrete bridge across the road, lighting roads, large garbage piles, water hyacinths along the stream have been replaced with green vegetable flaps, street light posts. People told each other not to throw garbage and dump waste water into streams. Due to that mosquito and many insects automatically left.
Similarly, many other streams in Bien Hoa City such as Tan Mai, Ba Lua and Linh streams are also dredged and renovated regularly. The change of streams is evident when the land of many households on the two sides from the place of nobody to take is now "towering" price, many high-class housing projects, trade centers are opened.
Monitoring water and waste
According to the provincial Department of Environmental Protection, the heavily polluted inner streams are mainly caused by domestic waste and industrial wastewater (industrial zones) in the city. However, at present nearly 100% of households have contracts to collect daily waste, consciously protecting the stream to keep a healthy living environment so the situation of "dead" streams with waste water and household waste significantly reduced.
For industrial wastewater, industrial zones such as Amata, Loteco, Agtex Long Binh, Bien Hoa 2, and Bien Hoa 1 all have invested in centralized wastewater treatment systems, installed automatic wastewater monitoring systems and connect with the software at DONRE for 24/7 continuous monitoring.
In addition, Department of Natural Resources and Environment collects samples manually for comparison with the results of automatic monitoring monthly; Every 6 months, Dong Nai Industrial Zones Authority inspects the connection and operation of wastewater treatment systems from industrial zones to promptly rectify infrastructure business units for wastewater collection, treatment. and drainage. Therefore, basically industrial wastewater in industrial zones in the city has been controlled.
Ms. Dang Thi Thuy Duong, Deputy Director of the provincial Department of Environmental Protection, said that regarding the control of water sources and domestic waste, Bien Hoa City has basically completed the relocation of the whole pig farms out of the city; Completed construction and operation of Waste Water Treatment Station No. 1 with capacity of 3 thousand m3 / day in Ho Nai Ward.
According to Mr. Huynh Tan Loc, Vice Chairman of Bien Hoa City People's Committee, the city is conducting dredging, concrete embankment and planting trees at Suoi Linh’s downstream cross through Tam Hiep Ward and Binh Da Ward in order to clear the flow and create beautiful landscapes along streams that limit environmental pollution.
Along with that, implementing compensation and site clearance for projects against flooding and improving the environment in Chua stream, Ba Lua stream and Cau Quan stream; set up working groups and coordinate with 30 wards and communes to conduct inspection, make records of violations and administrative sanctions for cases of indiscriminate littering in public places throughout the city.
Currently, the city is implementing the design of construction drawings and site clearance for drainage and wastewater treatment project in Bien Hoa City (phase 1) in the area of 9 wards with the designed capacity of 52 thousand m3 / day. In addition, the completion of Flood Control project in the Bien Hung intersection has solved the problem of traffic congestion, flooding in the case of heavy rain, and also contributed to improving the environment and embellishing Bien Hoa urban area.
