However, as recommended by specialized agencies, people should be on high alert, well implement measures to prevent and combat dengue because the rainy season has come. The rainy season will produce favorable conditions for mosquitoes to breed and develop.

Increasing cases

According to statistics from the Provincial Center for Disease Control, compared to the previous week, the number of cases increased in Bien Hoa City, Cam My District, Tan Phu District.

Second Degree Specialist (SDS. Dr.) Nguyen Thanh Quyen, Head of Tropical Diseases Department of Dong Nai Children's Hospital, said that in the department, there are 8 patients currently being treated for dengue fever, an increase compared to the first months of the year. The hospitalized children were in a state of constant high fever, abdominal pain, vomiting. Although the condition is not yet severe, it is a warning sign of dengue fever.

“It is expected that early next month, the situation of dengue fever will increase because it has officially entered the rainy season. Besides, hand, foot and mouth disease will also appear because students have come to school "- Dr. Quyen said.

Recently, the Provincial Center for Disease Control in collaboration with Cam My Commune Medical Center organized a large-scale larvae eradication and spraying in 4/5 hamlets of Bao Binh and Cam My communes quite high number of dengue cases in the district) for dengue prevention and control.

Dr. Tran Chuyet, Head of Bao Binh Commune Health Station, said that there are 34 cases of dengue fever in the whole commune. The reason for the high number of cases is that this year the dry season is long and hot, so the people in the commune have a habit of storing living water without covering. From there create an environment for mosquitoes to grow and develop.

To control the disease outbreak, the health station advised the commune leaders to meet the steering committee, mobilize the entire political system and mass organizations in the commune to propagate to people about how to prevent the disease. At the same time, sending a team of medical collaborators to each house to monitor the larvae, guide people to turn over pots, jars, water containers, do not let mosquitoes lay eggs or raise ornamental fish to destroy wriggling.

The province's first round of dengue fever prevention and control campaign in 2020 is organized from May 15 to 24 in 21 communes, wards and towns in 11 districts and cities in the province. These are communes and wards with high numbers of dengue cases in the first 4 months of 2020.

Attention to prevent disease

Dr. Phan Van Phuc, Head of the Department of Infectious Diseases Center for Disease Control recommends that the rainy season is the time to start increasing dengue fever and other infectious diseases. Dengue fever does not currently have a preventive vaccine and no specific treatment. Therefore, in order to prevent disease, people need to raise their sense of self-awareness, take initiative in implementing measures such as eliminating mosquito larvae, killing mosquitoes, clearing bushes, cleaning houses, clean places ... to prevention for yourself and those around you.

Dr. Phuc hopes that people will join hands with the Health sector to effectively implement preventive measures recommended by the Ministry of Health such as: Close all water containers so that mosquitoes cannot lay eggs; Carry out weekly measures to eliminate larvae / eggs by releasing fish into large water containers; wash small and medium water containers, turn over non-water tools; change vase / water’s containers; Put salt or oil in the base bowl of water.

Besides, discarding waste materials, natural water holes that do not allow mosquitoes to lay eggs such as bottles, jars, bottle fragments, coconut shells, broken debris, old tires / tires, bamboo niches, leaf sheaths ... When sleeping, wether during the day or at night, you need to sleep inside nets and wear long-sleeved clothes to avoid mosquito bites actively coordinating with the health sector in spraying of epidemic prevention and control chemicals.

In particular, when there are signs such as prolonged high fever, taking medicine not to lower, vomiting, people need to immediately medical facilities for timely examination and treatment advice. Absolutely not arbitrarily avoid the disease progression drug. Meanwhile, the treatment will be very difficult and costly.
