The Southern key economic region has a leading role in development

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc affirmed the above statement at the Prime Minister's meeting with localities in the southern key economic region in order to overcome difficulties and promote the economic development in Ba Ria-Vung Tau province on May 30.

Attending the meeting were Standing Deputy Prime Minister Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh, Deputy Prime Minister Trinh Dinh Dung and leaders of ministries and branches together with leaders of 8 provinces and cities in the region, representatives of enterprises, local business association. Representative of Dong Nai are a standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee Ho Thanh Son, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Cao Tien Dung and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Quoc Hung.

Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Covid-19 epidemic had made the Vietnamese economy face many difficulties, including the Southern key economic region. However, starting from May 5-2020, the production and business situation of the business has been restored and had positive results. Solutions to support people and businesses have been issued and are being implemented in an efficient way, helping the economy’s recovery.

According to the Prime Minister, the Southern key economic region is the most developed region in the country, playing a very important role and position because it accounts for 43% of the country's GDP. Therefore, the Prime Minister asked the leaders of the provinces and cities to contribute ideas so that the Prime Minister, the Deputy Prime Ministers and the ministries and branches listen to make the right decisions. The Prime Minister also wants to listen to the opinions of scientists and businesses in order to find out development orientations and advocates for practical and scientific basis.

Therefore, in the task of 2020, the region must strive for a higher growth rate than the common average, as a driving force for development so that Vietnam can achieve high economic growth. The Prime Minister suggested that provinces and cities in the Southern key economic region need to develop large industrial zones and smart cities with good human resources and qualified infrastructure to catch quality investment opportunities moving into Vietnam. In particular, promoting the development of the private economy, removing difficulties and obstacles, promoting administrative reform to create an open investment environment. If done well, it will be a strong economic rebound as well as an opportunity to attract the movement of world capital flows.

At the conference of provinces, cities, businesses and business associations, they also reported to the Prime Minister on the socio-economic development situation in the first 5 months of 2020. At the same time, proposing many issues related to support. enterprises overcome difficulties; investment in transport infrastructure and major projects for development; building solutions to welcome investment flows when the world economy recovers ... The above-mentioned recommendations have been answered and synthesized by relevant ministries and agencies to have solutions implemented in the coming time.
