Recently, Mr. Vo Van Phi, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee visited the areas where afforestation will be replaced for projects using forest land in districts of Long Thanh and Nhon Trach.
Currently, Dong Nai is
implementing a number of projects using forest land such as Ben Luc - Long
Thanh Expressway, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau, Phuoc An Port, etc. According to regulations, project investors when
implementing the project, if forest land is used, must organize replacement
afforestation or pay money to be able to plant replacement forests. In order
for the projects to be implemented on schedule, the Provincial People's
Committee has coordinated with departments and agencies to introduce vacant
land areas that can be planted to replace forests for project investors to
deploy. It is expected that the area that can be planted to replace the above
projects is the forest land area of the Long Thanh - Nhon Trach
mangrove forest. The area to be planted to replace forests is nearly 10
hectares.
Long Thanh - Nhon Trach mangrove area has a total area of nearly 8,000 hectares, of which more than 4,900 hectares are forested. Every year, the province planted more mangrove and cork trees in alluvial areas to increase the density, cover rate and expand the area of forest land.
After conducting a field survey, Vice Chairman Vo Van Phi of the Provincial People's Committee requested that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Forest Protection Department and the Long Thanh Protection Forest Management Board coordinate with the locality and the investor on a plan to plant forests to replace the mangrove forest in Long Thanh - Nhon Trach, in return for the area of forest land that must be converted to the purpose of implementing construction projects. Dong Nai is a province that still retains many areas of special-use forests, protection forests and production forests, and projects are very limited in clear the forest for project development.
