Maintain jobs for employees

At the recent meeting of the grassroots trade union, businesses informed about the difficult production situation due to the lack of production materials. Due to the influence of the world market, many partners in the US are temporarily closing business stores, so there are no orders. Some businesses try to find orders to maintain production and employment and income for employees. In which, enterprises have chosen to give employees annual leave. A good sign is that businesses are committed not to cut workers at the end of the year despite difficulties.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Tin, Deputy General Director and Chairman of the Union of Chien Furniture Manufacturing Co., Ltd. (Bien Hoa City) said that the company has about 1.2 thousand employees, all are still arranged to work normally even though enterprises are facing difficulties due to reduced orders and no production materials. In the past few months, businesses have been looking for orders to maintain jobs and ensure that from now until the Lunar New Year 2023, the income of employees of the whole company remains stable.

For more than 2 months now, worker Le Thi My Le, working at a wood production enterprise in Bien Hoa city, no longer works overtime but mainly works office hours because the business has few orders and no production materials. As a result, her income also decreased, causing Ms. Le to frugal expenses and take care of her family's life of 4 people staying at the boarding house. While the cost of accommodation, living expenses remained unchanged, even increased.

Ms. Le said, although the income has decreased, having a job at the end of the year is also better than many other workers. “We know that businesses are facing difficulties in orders, so we still try to work and take 4 days off in a month. I hope businesses will recognize the efforts of workers to fully implement the regime and policies on the upcoming Tet holiday. Hopefully in 2023, the business of enterprises will prosper so that the income of employees will be more stable", - Ms. Le expressed.

To share difficulties with employees, the grassroots Trade Union officials suggested that the functional branches of the province have many policies to support workers to stabilize their lives away from the countryside. Representative of Tan Duong Company Limited (Tam Phuoc Industrial Park, Bien Hoa City) said that the company currently has about 300 employees. Due to the lack of overtime in the past few months, workers' lives are affected. Enterprises want the locality to pay more attention to workers, especially to increase support for difficult workers who have not been able to return home to celebrate Tet for many years.

Chien Furniture Manufacturing Co., Ltd (Bien Hoa City) tries to ensure jobs for workers despite a sharp drop in orders

Find production options

Head of Labor Policy Division, Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs Cao Duy Thai said that in 2022, the Covid-19 epidemic is under control, the workforce is large, but enterprises lack orders for production. In the current general situation, both enterprises and employees are facing many difficulties. However, enterprises still develop production plans such as: arranging for employees to take annual leave, agree to suspend contracts... on the basis of agreements with employees. These are measures depending on the situation of enterprises to negotiate with employees in a reasonable way and achieve mutual benefits.

Faced with the situation that some enterprises, due to a decrease or no production orders, have to arrange for employees to take leave on Monday or Saturday every week, the Trade Union of Bien Hoa Industrial Park has directed the grassroots trade unions to closely follow the actual situation of workers' lives and find solutions to soon stabilize jobs. In addition, negotiate with the employer so that the employee is not disadvantaged, especially in terms of salary and welfare.

Vice Chairman of Trang Bom district Confederation of Labour, Le Duc Thuy, said that over the past time, the unit has coordinated with local authorities to set up working groups to enterprises having difficulties in order to encourage and share difficulties with employees and employers. Currently, some enterprises in the wood industry have returned orders and started recruiting workers, which is a very positive signal. District Confederation of Labor is connecting to introduce jobs for unemployed workers, especially elderly workers.

To stabilize jobs for employees at the end of the year, trade unions at all levels in the province are continuing to accompany businesses and employees. Before the recommendations of the representatives of the Trade Union of the business sector, the leaders of the provincial Labor Confederation listened, synthesized opinions and will report to the functional branches of the province for solutions to implement. The Provincial Labor Confederation also recognizes the efforts of the units in ensuring jobs and incomes for employees. At the same time, it is suggested that the trade union officials continue to grasp the ideas and encourage the working spirit of the employees. Along with that, negotiate with the employer to have a salary, Tet bonus, motivate and retain employees.
