Production capacity is not uniform
According to the Provincial Forest Protection Department, there are currently 1,454 wood processing business and production establishments, of which there are 904 ones are enterprises and 550 ones are household-scale production establishments. Among them, only 115/904 enterprises (account 12.7%) have factories located in industrial parks and clusters. Most of these factories have foreign-invested capital, large capital scale, invest in modern machinery and equipment, have production experience, their products are all geared to export. Calculating, the number of enterprises with factories located outside the industrial park, clusters also accounts large proportion (87.3%). Besides, limitations in capacity, production productivity, technology and skilled human resources also affect the competitiveness of the industry.
The production productivity in the wood industry among enterprises is very different today. There are enterprises with productivity of 30 to 50 USD/worker, but there are also units with 70 USD or even more. This shows that there is no uniformity from enterprises, the investment to improve productivity is not the same.
In the context that the wood market is developing strongly, especially exporting to countries such as the US, Europe … enterprises always need high production quantity and quality. The issue of changing corporate governance thinking, improving of production efficiency and applying of new technological achievements will be disseminated and supported by Dowa for businesses, members to actively implement.
Towards sustainable production
According to Dowa, in 2020, the wood industry will experience many changes, especially the complicated development of the Covid-19 epidemic which had a great impact on the world. However, enterprises in the wood industry have tried their best and have grown very strongly in both output and revenue. The country's export turnover of wood and wood products reached nearly 12.4 billion USD, increased more than 16% compared to 2019. It is expected that in 2021, the wood industry will continue to achieve a growth rate of 15% compared to 2020. In Dong Nai, in 2020, export turnover of wood products reached nearly 1.7 billion USD, increased over 11% compared to 2019.
With good growth, new factories and companies were born, many factories are reorganizing production and improving technology lines. In the context of the wood industry facing many opportunities and challenges, the investment in technology, modern machinery and the recruitment and training of high human resources play a very important role.
To promote the development of the industry, the project on sustainable production and processing of forest products in Dong Nai until 2025 with orientation to 2030 has just been approved by the Provincial People's Committee. The wood industry continues to be identified as one of the key of manufacturing industries with synchronous development solutions.
