Deputy Secretary of the Standing Committee at Dong Nai Party Committee Le Hong Phuong inspects how agriculture-farmer-rural area programs are being implemented in Tan Phu

Over two years of implementation of Plan no. 97, Tan Phu has raised nearly VND164 billion for rural infrastructure development and invested over VND1.6 trillion in developing agricultural production activities.

Also, Tan Phu has finished planning for the adjustment of land use purposes in 18 communes and towns in 2010-2015 period, for the development of residential areas in rural regions, and for new rural projects in three pilot communes.

Crops of all kinds produce a higher and higher year-on-year yield. The intensive farming areas for rice, corn, and vegetables are formed. Therefore, the average income per farming hectare hits over VND49 million per year.

However, Tan Phu has still faced many a challenge; for example, its infrastructure is still underdeveloped in comparison with the central government and the province’s criteria.

Most of its farmers are living a difficult life and the poverty rate accounts for nearly 30 percent. Vocational training and employment generation programs have not produced good results yet.

Noting Tan Phu’s efforts and problems, Mr. Le Hong Phuong asked that it ought to focus on caring for people's lives by restructuring production activities to improve their income and by helping them live a good cultural life.
