The 11th National Party Congress Kicks off on January 12: The Congress Takes Place from January 12 to 19

Also, the press conference was attended by the representatives for Party committees and for more than 750 reporters, editors, media agencies from home and abroad.

At the press conference, Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Head of the Commission for Propaganda and Education Nguyen Bac Son said: “The 11th National Party Congress is of great importance for the country and is a new start for the second decade of the 21st century”.

At the Congress, the Communist Party of Vietnam will have a discussion on the amendments and development of the fundamentals towards the building of the country in the process of transition to socialism on the basis of looking back to 80 years of founding, fighting, grown-up, leadership and revolution and of national and international situation.

In addition, the Congress is going to:

+ Listen to the 10th Tenure Central Party Committee’s political reports.

+ Have a talk on how to plan the 2011-2020 socio-economic development strategy.

+ Focus on a number of issues in need of addition and amendments towards the Party charter and other essential contents.

The Congress will also elect the 11th Tenure Central Party Executive Committee.

The Congress was attended by 1,377 representatives for over 3.6 million Party members from nearly 54,000 grassroots Party organs.

The theme of the 11th National Party Congress is: “Keep improving the Party’s leadership and fighting power, promoting comprehensive reform and laying foundation for Vietnam to become an industrial country towards modernity by 2020”.

Congress is expected to take place from January 12 to 19, 2011.

At the press conference, the leadership from Party committees replied to the media’s questions regarding:

+ The importance of economic reforms associated with political reforms.

+ The comprehensive development strategy for the country.

+ Provisions on the extra number of senior personnel.

+ Collection of contributive comments on the people’s political draft report.

Addressing the press conference, Mr. Huy Rua special stressed: “The 11th National Party Congress is a political event of great importance. The Congress will discuss issues concerning national development strategy with the aim of making Vietnam a society with rich people and a strong country with democracy, fairness and civilization. Basically, Vietnam will make its efforts to become an industrial country towards modernization by 2020. Therefore, the congressional propaganda of the press agencies from home and abroad has a significant meaning contributing to overall success in a major political event”.

The same morning, the press center for the 11th National Party Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam was officially put into operation.

Journalists participating in the congressional got training and skills at the Conventions Center.
