A get-together to welcome the 79th anniversary of the Vietnamese Women’s Association

On the morning of October 20, among the atmosphere prevailing over the celebration sites of the 79th anniversary of the Vietnamese Women’s Association (October 20, 1930 – October 20, 2009) throughout the country, Dong Nai Women’s Association held a get-together for its senior female staff in former periods and its most important female staff across the province. The anniversary was attended by Member of the Central Party Committee and Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee – Tran Dinh Thanh, Head of Dong Nai Fatherland Front Committee – Nguyen Thi Kim Lien and Vice chairwoman of Dong Nai People's Committee – Huynh Thi Nga.

Delegates – the provincial leaders – are present at anniversary

    Delegates reminisced about the traditions and the 79-year growth road of Vietnam and Dong Nai women movement under the leadership of the Party. Dong Nai women movement has grown strongly and fully the past years. Women have made a significant contribution to the process of Dong Nai’s construction and development economically, politically, culturally and sociably. All levels of the Association cooperated with each other in making loans worth VND200 billion for nearly 80,000 women, who do family-scale business for further income. Particularly, 8,000 women who are poor household owners were helped through poverty. VND1.352 billion in donations to build 131 houses of compassion was raised.  Nearly 5,000 Nguyen Thi Dinh scholarships worth VND1.7 billion were awarded to poor students. Over the nine months of 2009, the Association has built 19 “Shelters of Love” and awarded more than 1,000 scholarships. Building and making a strong Association is always paid attention to and its operation quality has been raised. The Association’s mobilized members account for over 69% and more than 82% of the grassroots Associations are ranked “good” and “excellent”.

    At the get-together, Mr. Tran Dinh Thanh – Secretary of Dong Nai Party Committee appreciated the achievements of Dong Nai women movement and emphasized that throughout the final years to implement the Resolution of the Party’s 9th Congress and that of Dong Nai Party Committee’s 8th Congress, it had to promote its spirit of self-reliance and self-strength in the process of labor and creation, overcome difficulties and challenges, contribute to fulfilling targets and tasks set in these Resolutions. Thanh proposed that all levels of the Association perform such tasks as continuing to promote women’s roles, to create the image of a woman in the new era who has a good health, knowledge and professional skills, to change the policies and the mode of operation of the Association under the motto “Look Back at Grassroots Associations and Facilitate the Study and Training of the Women, especially of those who are managers in businesses and manual workers and of those in hinterland areas. In addition, the Association is supposed to boost the propaganda work and provide all levels of the Party Committee with advice about its staff training.

    On this occasion, Dong Nai Women's Association launched the campaign "Women Throughout the Country Follow Hygiene and Food Safety Program for Family and Community Health” and the movement “Build Shelters of Compassion” across the province.
