In the past years, farmers did farming mainly using traditional methods, which depends much on natural conditions so the products are primarily consumed in the locality and have not had trademarks and brands. Identifying farmers’ difficulties in and needs for IT, Dong Nai has a number of activities to bring IT to the locality. This is a chance for the farmers in Vinh Cuu to build a new production program
The district has organized six courses on cultivation training, 10 courses on aquaculture, two tours to Tan Phu and Dinh Quan to learn about their agricultural production models, seventeen seminars on crops and domestic animals for farmers across the district as well as implement the National Agriculture Encouragement Program. Therefore, its agriculture has positively developed.
Since 2000, a number of farmers have managed to make a fortune thanks to their application of new techniques to production.
Although the agriculture has gained some certain achievements, there are shortcomings compared to the demands for development in the direction of integration.
Nguyen Cong Luat, Chief of Vinh Cuu’s Office for Agriculture and Rural Development said that agriculture in Vinh Cuu has not developed as well as it can, partly because the district is still poor, which means difficult economic conditions, undeveloped infrastructure, leading to inconvenient access to scientific information . Other reasons are that information communication has not satisfactorily invested, there are not enough officials specialized in science, devices used for searching and accessing information are insufficient, cheap internet shops are presently not available …
Intellectual Property and Trademark creation are still strange to the farmers. The products have good quality but their prices are unstable so the farmers do not get much profit from productivity.
However, in general, Vinh Cuu’s agriculture has steadily grown annually, considerably contributing to its GDP. This growth is gained thanks to the investment and attention which leaders from relevant departments and sectors, especially Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Department of Science and Technology, Department of Information and Communication, Provincial Farmers’ Association and Post Office, have given to this field by collaborating with each other to provide information, advanced production models to households.
