Dong Nai to carry out project to develop pomelo orchards in Vinh Cuu district

In the near future, a project to develop an area specializing in pomelo growing invested by the provincial Agricultural Promotion Center will be implemented. The project aims to expand the pomelo growing area in Vinh Cuu district into the total size of one thousand hectares by the year of 2010.

trongbuoiThe target of the project is to build a large scale concentrated pomelo-growing area so as to develop eco-tourism in Vinh Cuu district. The project will apply advanced technology to increase the pomelo out put, quality, economic results and train and enhance the professional skills of pomelo-growing farmers. 24 households in the communes of Tan Binh, Binh Hoa, Binh Loi, Thien Tan, Tan An, Tri An, Hieu Liem and Phu Ly will be selected for this project. Each selected household must have the total arable of over 5,000 square meters which is good for growing pomelo and enough capital, ability to comprehend the information technology advancements and teaching skills in order to teach what they have learnt to other people. They will be sponsored 60% of pomelo breeds and 40% of fertilizers in 3 years and their pomelo orchard will be regularly taken care of by experts.

Late June, pomelo-growing farmers will receive breed and fertilizers so as to start growing.
