Precautionary measures to prevent bird flu from breaking out

The Department of Agriculture and Rural development urged that all localities should strictly carry out precautionary measures, especially to inspect the circulation and trade of poultry. Besides, all localities in the province should evaluate the result of the first vaccination campaign and promptly launch the second vaccination campaign in accordance to the plan. The document of the department also ordered farmers to decontaminate their farms and take precautionary measures as to prevent the epidemic from spreading out. It also urges the authorities of every locality to strictly control the slaughter and trading poultry and water-birds at markets.

Through this document, the department of Agriculture and Rural development also required enterprises and localities should strictly obey the policy to stop producing breeding poultry, raising ducks, gooses and swans until February 28 2007. And authorities of all localities should not allow any water-birds to be raised in the source of Dongnai and Saigon River.
