Furthermore, agribusiness companies have also invested over 36,474 billion VND in new and innovative technology to ensure the supply of good quality seeds and animals for farmers.
Thanks to active efforts of farmers and agribusiness companies in developing agriculture, Dong Nai’s agriculture has witnessed a growth of 5.3% per year on average in 2001-2005 compared with the target of 3.5% - 4%. In which, cultivation contributed a 3.43% increase while breeding posted 7.96% growth. Especially, breeding makes up 26.62% of the agriculture in 2005 compared to 23.29% in 2001.
Poverty rate in rural areas drasticallyr educed
Over the past years, Dong Nai has paid special attention to in-depth investment into infrastructure, raising in intellectual standards of rural population and the reform of the social welfare network and social security system in rural areas. As a result, positive growth rates have been recorded in the rural areas, particularly, in 16 poorest communes of the province with 29,000 households. Funding resources granted by the provincial government have helped to raise living standards of people who are living in the poorest and the most remote areas and among ethnic minority groups in Dong Nai province. A hundred of billions of dongs has been invested to the development for these activities. Until now, the national electric power network has been extended to most of communes throughout the province. 90% of Dong Nai’s rural population enjoys electric power supplied by the national electric power network. Internet service has been also offered to rural areas. In addition, local governments have made compulsory to everyone in rural areas of the province general education at the junior high school graduation. In the other hand, Dong Nai has invested VND 36.531 billion in rural water supply and environmental sanitation projects. VND 32.151 billion of total investment capital came from local budgets and contributed money from local people. To date, the rate of population using water with its hygienic conditions is 70%.

Remarkably, Dong Nai has paid particular attention to investment in infrastructure, construction of new schools, houses of culture, medical stations … throughout 16 poorest communes of the province. At the same time, seeds and necessary goods… worth VND 18 billion have been donated to nearly 2,000 poor households. These encouraged the poor to strive for getting out of poverty. On the occasion of the 60th anniversary of National Day of Vietnam (September 2), the province announced that the elimination of poverty in Dong Nai’s 16 poorest communes was attained.
Although rural areas of the province are facing many difficulties caused by unstable consumption of agricultural products and lack of qualified labor force, the programme of agriculture and rural development of Dong Nai province has helped to raise living standards of rural people higher than before during the period 2001-2005.
