* Incomes are higher
To date, 124,902 households have registered for the emulation movement, reaching 65.4 percent of the total number of 190,747 households in the province. Among them, 61,245 households have won the titles “doing farming and business well” from the grass roots levels to the provincial ones. The incomes earned by agricultural production become higher with every passing years. Specifically, the number of households earning incomes of 20-30 million/year increased from 16,670 in 2006 to 44,069 in 2007; the number of households earning incomes of 30-50 million/year increased from 1,920 in 2003 to 12,737 in 2007. As for incomes of 50-70 million/year, there are 245 households in 2003 and 3,979 ones in 2007 and as for incomes of 100-110 million/year, the number of households were only 110 in 2003 but rose by 460 at present and so on. These results proved that farmers’ lives are increasingly improved, greatly contributing to the society.
The important thing is that the movement not only rouses the farmers to enrich themselves but also exerts a strong influence on their awareness, contributing to the quick transfer of plant and domestic animal structures in terms of quality and efficiency. Specifically, a large number of crops and domestic animals that are applied scientific techniques by farmers have high yields, quality and economic efficiency. For example, rice has an average yield of 39.8 quintals/hectare, corn 50.16 quintals/hectare and a number of winter-spring crops have an average output of 100 quintals/hectare. Perennial cultivated crops such as cashew, pepper, mango, rambutan, durian, pomelo and so on also have high productivity and quality.
In breeding, the farmers actively follow the program to make pigs leaner and increase Sind cross-bred cows, using enclosed breeding area, heat reducing system, hygiene breeding facilities and biogas used for lighting, production and breeding-waste treatment, which have led to reduction in environment pollution and production costs. Up to 2006, the whole province has 1.2 million pigs, 90,000 oxen and buffaloes, over 5 million poultry etc In addition, the aquiculture has also changed from cultivating low-productivity and low-priced aquatic populations to high-productivity and high-priced ones such as tilapias, eels and so on
* Positive results of the movement
In addition to their attempts to make fortunes, the farmers have also, for the past five years, made practical contribution. Specifically, through the program “Mechanizing Rural Agriculture”, 6,054 machines and devices of all types with the total capacity of about 17,000 horse power were equipped and worth nearly VND 17 billion. Through the program to develop infrastructure, more than VND 665 billion were mobilized in five years and part of this amount was used for investment in repairing, improving and renewing the whole traffic system of the province. The program to electrify the countryside has mobilized nearly VND 300 billion to construct the grid to serve production.
Moreover, The Farmer Association at all levels also collaborated with The Social-Policy Bank to launch a program to loan money to poor households. Thanks to the active activities of the movement, the number of poor households has reduced from 52,827 to 49,032 (2001-2005), the poor’s lives are improved, 114 communes basically have no poor households, the poor’s average incomes have increased twofold and the gap between the rich and the poor are narrowed.
