It is expected that in August, the construction project tunnel undercrossing Tan Phong intersection of Bien Hoa city will be implemented to solve traffic congestion in the area. At the same time, the power grid network, telecommunication cable will also be put underground to create urban aesthetics in the area.
Get prepared for the tunnel construction
Owner of Viet Tien fashion brand outlet at 6A, Dong Khoi street (near the project area) Bui Thanh Toan expressed both joy and anxiety when Tan Phong intersection was going to be renovated. "When I heard about the construction of the tunnel, I and many other businesses in the area felt very happy and we wish the construction to be implemented quickly because the traffic is very busy at the intersection. However, I am also a bit worried about the construction will be prolonged and affect our businesses, "said Toan. Meanwhile, most of the people, especially workers living in Trang Dai ward, are happy and look forward to the project. "Twice a day in the morning and afternoon we have to go through this area where the traffic digestion is extremely bad everyday. That is not to say that after every heavy rain, the situation even gets worse. The traffic jam in the morning is the worst because it will significantly slow us down and we will be late for work, "said Le Thi Thu, a woker in Amata Industrial Park.
A tunnel will be construction under Tan Phong intersection along the Dong Khoi road in August.
After the completion of 2 underground tunnels on NR1 which undercrosss the of Tam Hiep intersection and Vung Tau intersection, the tunnel undercrossing Tan Phong intersection will be the third one in the city. However, this is the first underground tunnel project to be invested and implemented in the inner city by the province. Head of the transport department of Construction Investment Project Management Nguyen Linh said that bidding for the project is being prepared to meet the deadline before the launch in August. Related work is being done to get ready for the tunnel construction tenders which is expected to be held on July 25 and then based on the bid applications, qualified contractors will be selected to deploy the project in early August, "said Linh.
According to the design, the underground tunnel will be built along the Dong Khoi route with the length of over 770m, of which the covered area is 50m long, and the open area is 380m, the tunnel paths on both ends of the tunnel is 220m and the tunnel barriers on both ends of the tunnel is 125m. Upon completion, the tunnel will accommodate two-way traffic with 4 lanes (2 lanes for motor vehicles and 2 mixed lanes) and the designed speed of 60km / h; in addition there are 4 lanes on the outer routes on both sides of the tunnel with the designed speed of 40km per hour. The project needs a total investment of nearly VND 260 billion, of which the capital for construction is VND 202 billion, the rest is the cost of site clearance, procurement of equipment and expenses for project management.
Power and telecommunication network to be put underground to create urban aesthetics.
The tunnel undercrossing Tan Phong intersection is expected to solve the worse and worse traffic congestion at this area while the inter-ward route crossing Trang Dai and Tan Hiep wards is being constructed. Due to the urgent needs, the underground tunnel at Tan Phong intersection is listed among the 8 major projects of Bien Hoa city which are highly prioritized to be implemented and planned to disburse 70 billion dong in 2017.
Notably, in addition to preventing traffic jams, when the construction of the underground tunnel is implemented, the related power and telecommunications cable infrastructure will also be put underground to create aesthetics for the city. "We will put the entire telecom cable system underground along the length of the project," Mr. Linh added. After the completion in this area, the power wire and telecom cable systems along some other routes will be planned to be put underground, too. Accordingly, priority will be given to the implementation of three routes in the inner city including Ha Huy Giap, 30-4 and Hung Dao Vuong. According to the roadmap, by 2020, all of the power wire and telecom cable systems along major roads in Bien Hoa city will be put underground to create the face of urban civilization.
Controlling traffic during the construction
According to Deputy Director of the Transport Department Tu Nam Thanh , the construction area of the project is the busiest intersection in Bien Hoa. During construction is likely to affect the circulation of vehicles, special attention should be paid to the traffic flow. Because this is an intersection with large and complex quantity of means of transport, it may be necessary to prohibit some means of transportation during peak hours.
