This is one of the contents in the plan for investment and development of inland waterway passenger transport in the province in the period of 2021 - 2025, which has just been promulgated by the Provincial People's Committee.
Specifically, 9 passenger ferry terminals outside the list of passenger ferry terminals developed by 2025 are added to be built in the period of 2021 - 2025, including: Nguyen Van Tri Ferry - Bus Station, Thanh Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City; Ferry Terminal Area of An Binh Ward, Bien Hoa City; Amata Tourist Ferry Terminal, Long Thanh Townlet, Long Thanh District; Long Phuoc Ferry Terminal Cluster, Long Phuoc Commune, Long Thanh District; Trang Bom Ferry Terminal, Thanh Binh Commune, Trang Bom District; Ferry Terminal of Tan Trieu Pomelo Village, Tan Binh Commune, Vinh Cuu District; Hamlet No. 2 Ferry Terminal, Binh Loi Commune, Vinh Cuu District; Tri An Ferry Terminal, Tri An Commune, Vinh Cuu District and Hieu Liem Ferry Terminal, Hieu Liem Commune, Vinh Cuu District.
In addition to the above-mentioned ferry terminals, there are 2 more marinas outside the list that will also be added and developed in the next 05 years, namely Ong Con Islet Marina, Dai Phuoc Commune, Nhon Trach District and a marina belonging to the project of Sixsene Saigon Ecological Tourism Urban Area, Dai Phuoc Commune, Nhon Trach District.
According to the Department of Transport, currently, there are 32 passenger ferry terminals in the province, including 30 passenger ferry terminals and 2 tourist ferry terminals. In terms of output, the total annual average volume of passengers transported by waterway is estimated at 3.3 million passengers per year, equal to about 6% of the volume of passengers transported by road. However, in 2020 and early 2021, due to the impact of the covid-19 epidemic, the volume of passengers transported by waterway may be decreased.
