In 2006, AFTA integration and WTO accession will heighten competition in Vietnam, particularly, in Dong Nai and intensify competitive pressures on enterprises catering to the domestic market.
* Speeding Up Investment and Expanding Markets’ Initiatives
Dong Nai Import Export Processing Agricultural Product Company (DONAFOODS) has been chosen to adopt the parent-subsidiary structure as of July 1, 2005. For fiscal 2006, the company is striving to achieve a total import/export turnover of US$ 77.2 million. Of which, export sales is estimated worth US$ 52.2 million, an increase of US$ 10 million compared to the fiscal 2005. The company plans to inaugurate DonafoodsThai Binh which is a join-venture between Donafoods and Australian MWT Foods and put it into operation in the first quarter of 2006. The new company has its annual capacity of 2,000 tonnes. The whole products of the new company will be exported to foreign markets. By 2006, the companys goal is to remain Vietnam’s top cashew nut exporters.
With utmost efforts to renew technology and equipment, Bien Hoa Packaging J.S Company (Sovi) has made a great leap forward and raised its annual capacity up 40,000 tons from 6,000 tons with a total investment of VND 56 billion. Sovi will also invest approximately VND 30 billion in new equipment and new technology for the two-year planning period 2006-2007.
* Growing Trend of enterprises in Dong Nai
On January 2006, Dong Nai Port Joint – Stock Company will start construction of Go Dau A wharf where is designated to accommodate vessels of up to 10,000DWT. The construction cost is estimated to be VND 20 billion. Besides, the company will invest to equip new machinery and technology for the wharf. It is planning to build container freight yard near the Go Dau A wharf in 2007.
Dong Nai Post Office is also striving for exceeding the year’s plan. The market research at the provincial towns and industrial zones will be continued in 2006 by Dong Nai Post Office. It aims to develop network and provide high quality telecommunications and postal services to customers. Some non-state enterprises are also planning to expand their market such as Dong Tam Ceramics Co., Thanh Binh Co. and Dieu Thuong Co. etc.
The enterprises in Dong Nai make efforts to increase the competitiveness capacity in the international economic integration process. Therefore, these enterprises will continue their efforts to achieve their objectives in 2006.
