Development of small scale crafts and industries in Hoa An Commune

The commune has a long tradition in fine art pottery. Besides, Hoa An sees rapidly growing mechanical and lathe works. Products made by local mechanical workshops only served agirculture in the previous years. In order to meet the growing demands of the market, the local mechanical workshops decided to increase investment in facilities to raise production capacity and employ more labors in recent years. To date, there are more than 20 medical workshops in the commune.

Hoa An commune has, quite correctly, an economic development orientation. The commune’s hard-working people always build their own strategies for developing local economy. Seeing clearly through quickly transferring economic structure, labor structure according to orientation of industrialization and modernization that realizes the new breakthrough in local economic development. Not only traditional hand-made pottery but also wood processing, enamelled tile, etc. are developing strongly in Hoa An. Unti now, the commune has nearly 70 limited liability companies and private companies and 800 individual enterprises. These enterprises attracts  around 2,000 labourers from other localities across the country. Trade and services sectors are propelling the communes growth and grow at a robust 20-30 per cent annual rate. In addition, these sectors  contributes annually more than 4 billion VND to state budget.

The achievements of Hoa An during the past time have given a strong impetus for the further development of small scale industry and trading services. The Hoa An commune People’s Committee Chairman Nguyen Van Ngoc said that local government not only strives reach growth targets but also creates favourable conditions for local people to gradually improve production technology aiming to meet the increasing demands of the market.

The commune government together with local people are contributing to the growth of local economy. Although the commune is now facing many difficulties, by what the commune do today can make a prosperous future for all people here.
