According to Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, farmers of the province are expected to cultivate nearly 77 thousand hectares in this year’s crop

Specifically, 34 thousand hectares of rice and 22 thousand hectares of corn will be cultivated. The remaining area will be used for cultivating vegetables, wheat, beans and other annual crops. As far as it is known, the whole province has, to date, finished the summer-autumn crop and sowed about 30 percent of the crop cultivation area. In the summer-autumn crop, 87,365 hectares were cultivated (reaching 98.1 percent compared to the same period, and 101.4 percent of the target). Cultivated rice area reached 26,392 hectares (97.2%) with the average output of 42 quintals/hectare and the cultivated corn area was 29,308 hectares with the average output of 53 quintals/hectare. As for the 2007 crop, most of the farmers use short-day seeds with high yield and good ability to be against pestilent insect.
