Workshop on building strategic plan for managing and training labor inspectors

During 2 days of October 21-22, Ministry of Labors, War Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA) joined hands with the USAID funded project “Promoting Labor Relations” to hold a workshop on building strategic plan for managing and training labor inspectors in Dong Nai province. The event was attended by inspectors of MoLISA, of Department of Labors, War Invalids and Social Affairs in Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City; and other representatives of USAID.

The workshop’s view

At the workshop, the following issues would be discussed: strategies for developing and training labor inspectors; orientations and recommendations on improving the capacity and quality of inspection system; building handbooks for labor inspectors via coordination activities; and the process of capacity enhancement for labor inspectors in Dong Nai province and Ho Chi Minh City, etc.

It is said that the whole country now has 140 labor inspectors among 446 inspectors. Dong Nai is considered as the 2nd province in labor inspection though there are only 17 labor inspectors with about 200 enterprises annually inspected. This figure is too small in comparison with the real demand of the industrial province which has more than 11,000 large-scale enterprises.
