At the age of four or so, Dang Kim Nga’s parents passed away and she had to leave her relatives and acquaintances in Thanh Son commune , Dinh Quan district to move to Bien Hoa Supporting and Vocational Training Orphans Center to live.

We met her when she was cutting grass in the center. After her parents passed by, she had to live on her own and move to her uncle’s house. But her uncle’s family is also rather poor. Luckily, at the same time the center went into operation with the aim of helping difficult and street children; She was accepted into the center. Her childhood was spent in this public house.

When mentioning her situation, she burst into tears and said, “ Seeing other children taken by parents to go out, I feel sorry for myself. At that time, I just cries and consoled myself. But when accepted into the center, I could go to school and people in the center wholeheartedly cared and supported me. Besides, I have more friends. Yearly, the center took us to go out on holidays and festive days. On Tet holiday, we can go to visit our family”.  Aware of difficulties in her life, she always promises herself to do her best and study hard to become a useful citizen for society.

Talking to us about Nga, Nguyen Thi Ngoc Hang, the director of the center said, “ Nga is a girl with strong will to better herself. When facing difficulty, she always tries her best to solve it. She lives harmoniously and always gives her friends in the center a hand ”.

At present, Nga is getting continuation education at Vocational College. Like other friends in the center, Nga received a bicycle, books and clothes to go to school. She expressed a desire to become a designer. Therefore, she is taking a sewing course in the college. She said that she would try her best to enroll in the university entrance examination next year so that she can study in Japan and after graduation she will go to work, earn a lot of money to help difficult children like her.

To give proof of her effort, she got good learning performance at school and received a scholarship worth VND500,000 offered by the College.

Bien Hoa Supporting and Vocational Training Orphans Center was established since 1994 and at the present the center has over 70 very abandoned children. Because the government advocated socializing the care of street children and taking them to live with community, the center has not accepted orphans any more, but it has been the intermediate place to take children to go back to certain homes and open houses in the community. Let’s expect that, with help of the center, Nga as well as other children will have more strength to continue to make an effort in their life and make their dreams become true.
