(E. Portal of Dong Nai) In the second quarter of 2023, orders from enterprises in the province continue to decline. Many businesses have to find ways to maintain operations and keep jobs for employees.
Many workers still have stable jobs and incomes
Manage to keep jobs for employees
Advanceb Multitech Vietnam Co., Ltd (Nhon Trach District) has been reduced to one third of orders but still implementing production plans to create jobs for over 3,000 workers so far. In which, employees still have regular jobs and they only take Saturdays off to receive the regional minimum wages.
Ms. Le Thi Van, working at the company, said that workers did not work overtime then, so their incomes decreased compared to before. But at that time, she still considered herself luckier than many other workers in having a stable job. Ms. Van wanted business to have orders again soon so that employees' incomes could be improved.
Along with other industries, leather footwear is also the industry that has been significantly affected by production due to a decrease in orders from the third quarter of 2022 until now. Chairman of the Trade Union of Changshin Vietnam Co., Ltd (Vinh Cuu) Dang Tuan Tu said that in order to maintain jobs for 40,000 workers, the business calculated suitable production options and gave employees 2 Saturdays off in the month to receive the regional minimum wages.
“The business motto of the enterprise is not to cut down labors to maintain production and retain human resources. In addition, the company and Trade Union carry out many welfare activities to take care of the employees, "- Mr. Tu shared.
Employees expect businesses to have plenty of orders
In the past few days, the news that PouYuen Vietnam Co., Ltd (HCMC) agreed to terminate labor contracts with thousands of workers, making many employees working at enterprises of the same group in Dong Nai worried. However, representatives of enterprises said that they were still trying to keep jobs and ensure regimes and policies for employees. According to Chairman of the Trade Union of Pouchen Vietnam Co., Ltd. Nguyen Tan Phap, the business made difficult orders, so they still tried to maintain jobs for more than 15,000 employees until the end of 2023.
According to many businesses in the province, the influence of the global economy caused businesses to reduce orders, no production orders and continue in the second quarter of 2023. Enterprises both have to find new orders and markets, and have to be flexible in human resource management when applying measures to extend production schedule. In addition, apply solutions for employees to work alternately or use empty time frames to train and improve skills for employees.
Especially, businesses operating in labor-intensive fields such as wood, footwear, electronics... are applying solutions to keep jobs for employees. Representatives of some enterprises shared, most of the employees were skilled, skillful and long-term employees, so they cannot be unemployed. Especially in difficult time after the Covid-19 pandemic, employees need jobs to have incomes to cover lives and many other expenses.
Notably, many businesses also accept low-priced orders, even breaking even to get jobs for employees. The grassroots trade union officials said that sharing jobs was the ways that many businesses were applying to retain employees today. Retaining employees was also a preparation step so that when the market recovered, businesses could start operating immediately without worrying about finding personnels.
Currently, some businesses have to choose ways to reduce working hours and make works sparsed but still keep the stable workforce. Chairman of the Trade Union of PouPhong Vietnam Co., Ltd. (Trang Bom District) Nguyen Minh Tam said that over the past time, the Union had agreed with businesses to take advantage of that time to organize skill training courses to help workers to improve professional skills to serve production well and adapt to works.
Some other enterprises found ways to change products and production to adapt in difficult condition and ensure jobs for employees. Specifically, at Hiep Dat Dong Nai Joint Stock Company (specializing in the production of screws in Vinh Cuu district), although there are only over 100 employees, but due to a lack of orders, the business have to reduce working hours of employees. The company invests in rigs to grow hydroponic clean vegetables, helping employees to get jobs during the time of job reduction. Although investing in the wrong industry, this is also a creative way of the enterprise to take care of the lives of employees.
In the current difficult situation, all businesses want to receive the sharing and companionship of employees to overcome difficulties. In addition, many businesses also suggested that the State to facilitate the extension of the duration of support policies for businesses, including 2% reduction in value-added tax until the end of 2025. At the same time, there are preferential credit packages for key manufacturing industries. Only in this way, businesses will soon revive, ensuring sustainable jobs for employees.
